Three Sweet Dogs Get Urgent Medical Care and a Second Chance
Three wonderful dogs have recently come into the care of the Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre. “Maxwell, “Hot Lips” and “Bowes” were all in need of medical care to ensure a good quality of life.
Meet Maxwell
Maxwell arrived to the Animal Centre severely injured and a suspected broken front leg. Regardless of the excruciating pain this 3-year-old German Shepherd mix boy was in, Maxwell, remained a happy-go-lucky dog with great spirit.
Maxwell was brought in for immediate care and a veterinarian examination confirmed a break in the Carpus area described as a Carpal hypertension injury. Orthopedic surgery was required to repair the break and alleviate the pain this poor boy was in.
Maxwell is currently recovering and will require several follow up visits as well as ongoing physiotherapy. Although costs are mounting for his care, the staff at the Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre are grateful that sweet Maxwell will get the second chance he deserves.
Meet Hot Lips and Bowes
“Hot Lips” and “Bowes” are two senior dogs that came into our care after being surrendered through our Investigations department. These poor girls were in rough shape and in need of some TLC.
Hot Lips, the sweet miniature pinscher mix is very affectionate but a little on the shy side, but with her Maltese friend Bowes by her side, she has the confidence needed to show her true personality. Both girls were a little nervous when they arrived, but with a little enrichment and care, they are progressing in leaps in bounds.
Hot Lips and Bowes were both examined and require dental prophylaxis, a procedure under general anesthesia which could result in possible dental extraction and the formulation of a treatment plan. Bowes will also require additional testing on her right eye and may require further medical intervention.
The medical care and continued treatment for all three of these sweet dogs continues to mount and the Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre is reaching out to the community for your support in helping animals like Bowes, Hot Lips and Maxwell.
Together, we can continue providing second chances for all the wonderful animals that come into our care.
