An Agent at the Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Branch recently received a call from a concerned citizen about his injured dog.
Upon inspection, the Agent discovered that the dog was only using three of his legs the fourth leg was tucked up to his body. The dog, named “Yogi,” was living outside, heavily chained to a run-down dog house.
The owner of the dog, told our Agent that Yogi was three or four years old and had belonged to his mother, who has since passed away. He also told us that Yogi had been hit by a truck a year and a half ago, and while he had taken Yogi to a vet clinic, he couldn't afford treatment. He shared that he was having financial difficulty, and had been looking for a rescue to take Yogi.
Our Agent suggested the owner surrender Yogi to the care of the Ontario SPCA. When it came time to put Yogi in the carrier, he became very emotional. It was clear that despite his inability to provide proper care for Yogi, he was very attached to the dog.
Yogi was then taken to the Ontario SPCA Lennox & Addington Branch where staff took over his care. Staff members there spent some time with Yogi before putting him in his kennel. It quickly became apparent that Yogi has a great personality, and despite his rough start, displays enthusiasm for life.
Both the Ontario SPCA Lennox & Addington Branch and the Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Branch are working extremely hard to give Yogi the second chance he deserves, but they can’t do it alone. We need your help. You can help Yogi get to his new forever family by making a donation to help with his medical care. Anything you can do to help us care for Yogi, and other animals like him, is greatly appreciated.
