Adopting a Pet for the Holidays

It’s the purrfect time to adopt during iAdopt for the Holidays. Until December 24th, we have lowered the adoption fee on all cats and kittens to $99 to help find as many felines forever homes before the holidays. The holidays are a great time to come together and add to your family.

The Ontario SPCA does not encourage giving pets as a surprise gift and should only occur when the recipient has shown a sustained interest in owning one, and has the ability to care for the pet responsibly. The Ontario SPCA's adoption team is trained to place the animal in their forever home. The Meet Your Match® program, run through our animal centres, is also a crucial element of this discussion.

Holiday Safety Tips

Holiday Safety Tips

The holiday season is a busy time for many us. Between shopping, decorating and having company over, pets can often feel just as overwhelmed as humans. It’s important to take precautions and keep them feeling safe and away from potential dangers like poinsettias which can be fatal if ingested.

There are many things you can do to make the holidays a happy and safe one for everyone.

500 Animals Adopted

We are extremely excited to announce that the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Animal Centre has found over 500 forever homes this year!  From dogs to cats, guinea pigs and rabbits, so many animals in need have a second chance.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to our community supporters, adopters, volunteers and advocates for helping make this happen!

We still have a couple of weeks left in the year to make a lasting impact in even more lives.  Stop by the shelter and meet your new best friend.

The 12 Ways of Giving this Holiday Season

Are you looking to help an animal this holiday season?  There are so many ways you can support the local shelter and stay on budget.

1) Make a monetary donation – you can make a donation online or in the shelter for any amount that suits your budget.  Gifts $10 or more are eligible for a tax receipt.

2) Participate in our Annual Christmas Drive - taking place until December 24th. Drop off supplies such as non-clumping litter, 6ft nylon leashes, Kong toys and treats.  Check out our complete wishlist.

3) Volunteer – We are currently recruiting for a variety of roles and can always us a helping hand.

George and Eclaire Keira

Bonded Horses Need a Home

George & Eclaire are looking for their forever home in time for the holidays.

Eclaire is approximately 19 years old, Thoroughbred mare that can be ridden, but for pleasure only.

George is approximately 19 years old as well, he’s a Dutch Warm Blood gelding and is broke to ride, however he can only be ridden on flat ground due to some nerve damage in his back (where the saddle is placed).

They are both great horses and we would love to find them a home where they can spend their golden years together.

Can’t adopt a horse? You can still make an impact by "adopting" Velvet, the horse plush toy. Visit pawsandgive.ca to see her and all her friends.

The Perfect Match for “Duke”

“Duke” was a handsome boy who came to us in early 2014 and found his forever home while in our care.  His family recently sent us this update:

“We adopted “Neptune”, now Duke, on March 1st, 2014.  He was shy and scared but is now a happy and outgoing boy.  He loves his sister “Daisy” and enjoys playing with his ball.

We live on 10 acres and Duke loves to run and play on our property.  He has adapted well and knows all his commands.  I am so glad we adopted Duke as he is such a loveable boy.

We all love him to bits.”
