A Happy New Year for “Spirit”
“Spirit” is a 1-year-old calico cat that was surrendered by her previous owner due to financial challenges. Staff noted that she was limping so they took Spirit to the veterinary clinic for assessment. Radiographs revealed that she had suffered a previous injury resulting in a severe tibia fracture to her right rear leg. After much deliberation, her veterinary team recommended that amputation of the affected limb was the best course of action. The surgery was a success and Spirit is recovering nicely in her foster home.
Spirit will soon be ready to find that loving home that she so deserves. She is a friendly affectionate cat who loves attention and a good snuggle. If you would like to meet Spirit just give the shelter a call at 705 645-6225 and we would be happy to introduce you!

Christmas Open House - Muskoka Style
The Ontario SPCA Muskoka Animal Centre held it’s annual Christmas Open House on Saturday December 12, 2015. It was a roaring success and loads of fun. We had tons of scrumptious home baked goods donated for the bake sale, Christmas baskets, calendars, cards and much more.
This year the Grinch and Max joined the party and were the stars of the whole event. Staff turned the Centre into Who-Ville for the day and a great time was had by all.
Thank you to everyone who supported the event. We look forward to seeing you in 2016.

iAdopt for the Holidays a Huge Success
From November 1 – December 31, Ontario SPCA Animal Centres in partnership with 50 other participating SPCAs and Humane Societies across Canada, ran the iAdopt for the Holidays adoption campaign with the goal of getting as many animals as possible adopted into loving, forever homes.
Over 5,000 animals, close to 1,500 of those from Ontario SPCA Animal Centres, found homes thanks to people like you either adopting or helping to spread the word.
The winner of our grand prize online contest, winning free pet food for a year courtesy of Royal Canin, was ‘Maggie’ the cat (pictured above) and her owners from Amherstburg, ON. Congratulations!
A big thank you to all who participated in this year’s campaign both online and through adopting an animal. You helped change lives this holiday season!

Volunteers Make It Happen
Our volunteers give, share and support our animals and staff all year long. Kudos to the Muskoka volunteer team for everything you do and for taking the time to support all of our events including our recent open house.
It’s thanks to you that we are able to continue providing life-saving services for the animals in our community. On behalf of the animals and staff, a big thank you and Happy New Year!
