Registration is now open for the 4th annual National Cupcake Day™ for SPCAs & Humane Societies, on Monday, February 29th, 2016. Hold your Cupcake Day party at work, school or at home and your guests can offer donations for delicious treats with all funds directed towards the life-saving work of your local SPCA or Humane Society.

Should you walk your dog in the winter?

While winter dog walking can sometimes be a challenge, it’s important to meet your dog’s exercise needs all year round—even in the winter. Not only will this keep your dog physically active during the winter months, it’ll also provide much needed mental stimulation.

There are a few things to keep in mind for a safe winter walk. Read some of our great tips to get you through a long winter season.

Book your School Visit

Are you an educator in Renfrew County? We would love to be a guest speaker in your classroom. Our humane educator, Rachel, will be happy to visit your classroom, club or group to talk all about the Ontario SPCA. We make learning easy by bringing along furry companions that make our presentation fun and engaging for your students.

Our presentations can focus on animal care and ownership, animal cruelty, dog safety or facts about the Ontario SPCA. We can travel anywhere in Renfrew County to help educate at no cost to your organization. Call us at 613-588-4508 or email Rachel at reden@ospca.on.ca to book your visit.

Bingo Volunteers Needed

We are currently looking for bingo volunteers to join our volunteer program. If you are interested in contributing to the Animal Centre in a significant way and help raise much needed funds for our pets, you can get it on the fun.

Bingo is a huge part of our fundraising and volunteers are what makes it a success! If you think you would like to start off the new year by volunteering some time, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Rachel at reden@ospca.on.ca or call 613-588-4508. Becoming a volunteer will involve an orientation, interview and additional OLG training.

iAdopt for the Holidays a Huge Success

From November 1 – December 31, Ontario SPCA Animal Centres in partnership with 50 other participating SPCAs and Humane Societies across Canada, ran the iAdopt for the Holidays adoption campaign with the goal of getting as many animals as possible adopted into loving, forever homes.

Over 5,000 animals, close to 1,500 of those from Ontario SPCA Animal Centres, found homes thanks to people like you either adopting or helping to spread the word. 

The winner of our grand prize online contest, winning free pet food for a year courtesy of Royal Canin, was ‘Maggie’ the cat (pictured above) and her owners from Amherstburg, ON. Congratulations!

A big thank you to all who participated in this year’s campaign both online and through adopting an animal. You helped change lives this holiday season!

Centre Relies on Generosity of our Community

Thank you to all our donors year-round who keep our shelves stocked and our animals bellies full! We are overwhelmed every day by the generosity of our community who gives without hesitation when we have a need or a request.

The Centre is always in need of items on our wish list that are essential for our everyday operations. We also have specific brands of food that we exclusively feed our pets. Some great ideas are laundry detergent, paper towels and printer paper to help complete all our adoption paperwork.
