January 2016

Our 2015 year ended with a BANG as over 560 forever homes were found for animals in the Orangeville area! Thank you to everyone who opened their homes and their hearts to an animal in need. Our 2016 also begins with a running start! We still have many other animals looking for a forever home so please stop by our Centre to meet them all.

Bowie

Santa Pic

Sweet “Bowie” Finds his Special Home

“Bowie” is a sweet 5-year-old Chesapeake Bay mix who came to the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Animal Centre after being surrendered through an investigation. He was suffering from a severe flea allergy, his read end was raw, he was experiencing hair loss all over his body, his ears were infected and he had discharge in both eyes. Bowie was in really rough shape.

Bowie has since recovered and thanks to your help spreading the word, this beautiful boy has now found his forever family. The weekend before Christmas, his new mom walked through the Centre doors and fell in love! We wish you a happy and long life together!

Volunteer Spotlight – Meet Christi

Christi has been a supporter of the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Animal Centre for many years. She helps with many of our fundraisers, including our Friends for Life! Walk™ and her favorite event – Santa Pet Photos!  For the past two years, she has taken on the giant responsibility of answering all of the phone call inquiries at her office and booking all of the photo appointments. She also helps as the photographer’s assistant throughout the four-day event.

Last year, Christi’s very own Santa pet pic was a big one. She brought along the whole family – adults, kids, lots of dogs and a very patient cat that we all fell in love with!

Thank you Christi for all of your support! Your talent and expertise help ensure that our events run smoothly and our participants have a great time!

iAdopt for the Holidays a Huge Success

From November 1 – December 31, Ontario SPCA Animal Centres in partnership with 50 other participating SPCAs and Humane Societies across Canada, ran the iAdopt for the Holidays adoption campaign with the goal of getting as many animals as possible adopted into loving, forever homes.

Over 5,000 animals, close to 1,500 of those from Ontario SPCA Animal Centres, found homes thanks to people like you either adopting or helping to spread the word.

The winner of our grand prize online contest, winning free pet food for a year courtesy of Royal Canin, was ‘Maggie’ the cat (pictured above) and her owners from Amherstburg, ON. Congratulations!

A big thank you to all who participated in this year’s campaign both online and through adopting an animal. You helped change lives this holiday season!
