Sending off our Sweet Puppies

"Heather" (pictured above) was one of six puppies that staff at the Ontario SPCA Midland & District Animal Centre were lucky enough to adopt out to very wonderful homes recently. Arriving in our care at just four days old from Whitefish Bay First Nation, we were eager to get them started on their adventure leading up to adoption.

The experience was so rewarding for all the staff here at the Centre as we watched them grow and developed their own unique personalities. We are so excited for each of them and can’t wait to get updates to hear how their all doing and how much they've grown!

Volunteer Spotlight – Meet Mike

Mike is one of our extremely dedicated volunteers here at the Ontario SPCA Midland & District Animal Centre. He comes in every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with a smile on his face and enthusiastic to get to work.

Mike enjoys working with the dogs and will not leave until everything is done and we are ready to open the doors. Not only is Mike great with animals, he also acts as our "Mr. Fix It", willing to help us in a pinch by driving to vet appointments or shoveling our walk ways. He helps to provide the best care to the animals here and his warmth, generosity and skill has such a positive impact on our Centre.

The staff and all our four-legged friends thank you Mike for all you do! We are so honoured to have all of our wonderful volunteers helping staff at the Ontario SPCA Midland & District Animal Centre.

iAdopt for the Holidays a Huge Success

From November 1 – December 31, Ontario SPCA Animal Centres in partnership with 50 other participating SPCAs and Humane Societies across Canada, ran the iAdopt for the Holidays adoption campaign with the goal of getting as many animals as possible adopted into loving, forever homes.

Over 5,000 animals, close to 1,500 of those from Ontario SPCA Animal Centres, found homes thanks to people like you either adopting or helping to spread the word.

The winner of our grand prize online contest, winning free pet food for a year courtesy of Royal Canin, was ‘Maggie’ the cat (pictured above) and her owners from Amherstburg, ON. Congratulations!

A big thank you to all who participated in this year’s campaign both online and through adopting an animal. You helped change lives this holiday season!

Community Spirit Shines

We would like to take this time to thank everyone who thought of the Ontario SPCA Midland & District Animal Centre this holiday season. Our tree was over flowing with pet food, toys and supplies that will directly benefit our animals here at the Centre.

A special thanks to the staff at Chidiac Animal Hospital who were generous enough to hold a "Christmas Fun Day" at their clinic. They had games, pictures with Santa, a clay paw print station for decorations and some great prizes! All the donations and proceeds from that event were given directly to us to help with the care of our animals here at the Centre.

We can not thank you enough for that thoughtful event and for all that you do!
