“Mason” Earns his Name
After searching for food, a poor abandoned kitty found a mason jar with contents inside. Being hungry, he squeezed his head inside and got it stuck. We believe “Mason” (as we have named him) was in that situation for some time. He did eventually break the end or the jar off which allowed him to breath but eating must have been challenging as the glass jar had long shards.Thankfully Mason was not injured.
A wonderful citizen found him and removed the jar before bringing him to our Centre. Mason was very hungry upon arrival, but quickly settled down knowing his next meal was just hours away! Mason was put up for adoption and it didn’t take him long to find his forever family. We look forward to hearing an update on how this little guy is settling in.

A Hero of a Volunteer
Steven is our Tuesday dishwasher volunteer! He comes in to the Centre with a smile on his face and loves to tell us about any super heroes from Marvel.
We can’t image our team without Steven! Staff always look forward to seeing him and listening to his many stories of his accomplishments in the Special Olympics or hearing him talk about his pride and joy “Lucy” the family dog!
Steven has been a part of our team since attending high school and we look forward to many more years working with him.

iAdopt for the Holidays a Huge Success
From November 1 – December 31, Ontario SPCA Animal Centres in partnership with 50 other participating SPCAs and Humane Societies across Canada, ran the iAdopt for the Holidays adoption campaign with the goal of getting as many animals as possible adopted into loving, forever homes.
Over 5,000 animals, close to 1,500 of those from Ontario SPCA Animal Centres, found homes thanks to people like you either adopting or helping to spread the word.
The winner of our grand prize online contest, winning free pet food for a year courtesy of Royal Canin, was ‘Maggie’ the cat (pictured above) and her owners from Amherstburg, ON. Congratulations!
A big thank you to all who participated in this year’s campaign both online and through adopting an animal. You helped change lives this holiday season!

Stoutly “Scout” Gets a Second Chance
A few months back, we had a very stout 7-year-old boy named “Scout” arrive at our Centre after his mom was placed in a long-term care home. Scout had only been fed human food, and was in desperate need of consistent exercise and medication.
After a few weeks in our Centre and on the road to a healthier lifestyle, Scout was available for adoption. We are please to share that he found the best home ever! Scout came to the Centre for a visit just before the holidays to wish us a Merry Christmas and report that he is feeling so much better.
We were so happy to see how energetic and happy Scout was, thanks for the visit friend!
