Providing Spay/Neuter Services to Whitefish Bay First Nation

The Whitefish Bay community is committed to reducing pet overpopulation. They recently invited the Ontario SPCA, Beat the Heat Kenora, the Grey Bruce Aboriginal Qimmiq Team, the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society and local volunteers, on to the First Nation community to provide spay/neuter services.

The Ontario SPCA is pleased to report that 79 surgeries were performed!  In addition, the team was able to provide microchipping and vaccines to some of the local pets.

Our Darling Trio: Cali, Simba & Loki

These three beautiful cats were surrendered to the Ontario SPCA Midland & District Animal Centre as their owner had health issues and could no longer keep them.

"Cali", "Simba" and "Loki" were very nervous and hid for their first few days in our care.  With comforting words and gentle interactions during socialization time, we are happy to report that all three cats are doing wonderfully and have all come out of their shells in anticipation of new homes!

Co-op Student Goes Over and Above

We are pleased to welcome co-op student Samantha, who joined us as part of her high school curriculum. Her hard work has not gone unnoticed, and we want to acknowledge her dedication. She really puts her energy into caring for the animals here at the the Ontario SPCA Midland & District Animal Centre, and has shown a big interest in helping us out with fundraisers. Samantha has even volunteered hours above and beyond what her program required.

We are so glad to have her with our team – thank you Samantha!
Thank You Pet Valu

The Ontario SPCA Midland & District Animal Centre is fortunate to have such a great relationship with our local Pet Valu store!

The Huronia Mall location serves as satellite adoption centre, which allows the animals to be seen by more potential adopters and increases their chances of finding their perfect match. The Pet Valu team also helps out with our fundraisers, including the recent National Cupcake Day™ in February. Working with our community partners, we can accomplish anything!
