Leash Training your Dog with Dave Salmoni

Dave Salmoni is back! This time, he’s going to help show methods of leash training your dog, with the help of Ontario SPCA Inspector Scott Sylvia and Hannah the dog!

Watch the video for great insights on how to leash train your dog using positive reinforcement to maintain control.

Providing Spay/Neuter Services to Whitefish Bay First Nation

The Whitefish Bay community is committed to reducing pet overpopulation. They recently invited the Ontario SPCA, Beat the Heat Kenora, the Grey Bruce Aboriginal Qimmiq Team, the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society and local volunteers, on to the First Nation community to provide spay/neuter services.

The Ontario SPCA is pleased to report that 79 surgeries were performed!  In addition, the team was able to provide microchipping and vaccines to some of the local pets.

A Big Rabbit with a Huge Heart

If you have been into our Animal Centre lately, you probably met “Peter”, a 2-year-old New Zealand rabbit who would love a person to call his own. We featured him in last month's newsletter and while he’s been enjoying the use of our larger adoption suites, he truly needs a safe place to romp with someone who loves him.

Three Times the Love for “Bear”

When older dogs come into our Animal Centre, we do our best to match them with permanent, loving homes to enjoy their future years.

“Bear” was a 7-year-old Mastiff/Labrador mix who was up for adoption here at the Ontario SPCA Leeds & Grenville Animal Centre. He was recently adopted by a family with three generations in it, all ready to welcome them into their lives. He is now enjoying rural life with two other canine friends, and we couldn’t be happier for him!
Firing up the Grill to Say Thank You

Our volunteers here at the Ontario SPCA Leeds & Grenville Animal Centre are the absolute best. They pitch in to help in so many different ways, whether it's for our fundraising events, transporting animals to vet appointments, or office administration help… the list goes on.

We'd like to celebrate their efforts with a Pancake Party on Saturday April 16, 2016, from 10:00am -2:00pm at the Ontario SPCA Leeds & Grenville Animal Centre. We can’t wait to see you there!
