Providing Spay/Neuter Services to Whitefish Bay First Nation

The Whitefish Bay community is committed to reducing pet overpopulation. They recently invited the Ontario SPCA, Beat the Heat Kenora, the Grey Bruce Aboriginal Qimmiq Team, the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society and local volunteers, on to the First Nation community to provide spay/neuter services.

The Ontario SPCA is pleased to report that 79 surgeries were performed!  In addition, the team was able to provide microchipping and vaccines to some of the local pets.

“Kate” Wants some Cuddles

We want to highlight a very special cat this month! “Kate” is a 1-year-old feline and would make a wonderful companion. She is independent, but she also loves affection. Kate is extremely playful and she loves to stick out her tongue! She would fit in well in a home with children and other animals.

Try the Meet Your Match® survey to see if you will match her personality, or visit her here at the Ontario SPCA Huron County Animal Centre!

National Cupcake Day™ a Huge Success

A huge thank you to everyone who “baked” a difference and supported National Cupcake Day™ in support of the Ontario SPCA Huron County Animal Centre!  There’s nothing sweeter than seeing people rally together to support abused, neglected and abandoned animals.

We would like to especially thank all the wonderful bakers, donors, community sponsors and volunteers who made this year's events such a success.  We hope to have you on board again next year.

Lift Huron Donates $500

This kind of story really “lifts” our spirits! We are so grateful for the support of Lift Huron, a local non-profit Olympic Weightlifting club for teens that hosts fundraising events and donates portions of their club memberships to a savings fund in support of local charities and organizations.

The Ontario SPCA Huron County Animal Centre wants to thank Lift Huron for their generous donation!
Reunited after an Incredible Three Years Apart

In an unbelievable tale, a cat came into the Ontario SPCA Huron County Animal Centre as a stray, and during her intake exam, we found a microchip which enabled us to look up her registered information.

It turns out she had been missing from her family for a staggering three years, and when we contacted them they were ecstatic to learn their long-lost pet would be reunited with them safe and sound!

It's thanks to microchips that happy reunions like this one are possible!
