Help “Charlie” on his Path to Recovery
The adorable “Charlie”, an 18-week-old Labrador-mix puppy, was surrendered to the Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre after his owners couldn’t afford veterinary care. Lethargic and vomiting, Charlie was immediately seen by a veterinarian and it was determined he required emergency surgery, where a large sock was removed from Charlie's lower intestine. The cost of Charlie’s emergency surgery and care was $3,000.
“Please consider donating today to help cover the costs of care for this puppy and other animals in need,” says Carol Beard, Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre Manager. For more information and to donate, please visit Charlie’s page.

The Truth About Ticks
Tick season has arrived and we ask Dave Wilson, Director of Shelter Health & Wellness for the Ontario SPCA and retired vet, what we need to know to help keep our pets safe.
Ticks are members of the spider family, and their bites can cause serious illness such as Tick Paralysis or even Lyme disease. It’s important to learn tick prevention and treatment.
Read our two part series “PET HEALTH CORNER: The Truth about Ticks” and watch our You Tube Video “How to Remove a Tick” for more information.

Happy “Desi” Finds a Home
Our handsome boy “Desi”, a cheerful Labrador mix, was adopted recently and we are so happy for him and his family. Visitors to the Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre noticed him right away and were charmed by his friendly personality.
Desi now has plenty of space in his new home to run, and his pet parents are overjoyed to have him in their life. Adoption makes such a positive difference in a pet’s life. Have fun Desi! |
We Love to See Familiar Faces
It’s always exciting when former volunteers are able to reunite with our team! The Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre is thrilled to have Emily return after she had to take a break due to other commitments.
Emily is one of the dedicated volunteers who come in to socialize the cats and to provide enrichment while they are awaiting their new homes. Socialization adds fun to their daily routine, and teaches our feline friends important human interaction skills. Welcome back Emily!

No Excuses...No Hot Pets
“I left the window down for him” “I wasn’t going to be gone long” We’ve heard it all!

during the hot summer months, putting animals’ safety at risk and even causing
death, is an ongoing problem across Ontario.
There is no excuse for leaving a pet unattended in a vehicle and this summer we
need your help to share this important message.
Join us on May
