The summer weather is upon us and our emergency dispatch team has been receiving calls every day about animals being left unattended in hot cars.
There is no excuse for leaving a pet unattended in a vehicle and this summer we need your help to share this important message and save lives.

High Number of Rabies Cases Reported
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry reported earlier this June, 76 cases of confirmed raccoon strain and fox strains in parts of southwestern Ontario. Along with having your pet vaccinated by your veterinarian, there are ways to keep your family and pets safe.

PetSmart Helps Find Homes
The Ontario SPCA Chatham-Kent Animal Centre had a fantastic time at the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend in London! Huge congratulations to Taz, Nico, Lilly, Simon, Joey and Jessie who found loving, forever homes.

Wine Tour Supports Animals
On Saturday, May 14th, a busload of wine enthusiasts hit the road to explore three Essex County wineries for our annual Spring Wine Tour. The group enjoyed a lunch and wine tasting at Paglione Estate Winery, as well as tours and tastings at Colio Estate Winery and Colchester Ridge Estate Winery. A fantastic time was had by all while helping animals in need in our community.

T-Shirt Sales Support Animals
Some of the amazing employees at TekSavvy Solutions Inc. stopped by the Ontario SPCA Chatham-Kent Animal Centre with quite a surprise. A fundraising committee decided they wanted to do something for the animals in our community and sold t-shirts to their staff members. A total of $700 was raised in support of the animals in Chatham-Kent!
