BBQ fundraiser kicks off Friends for Life! Walk™

Mia doesn’t have a care in the world since she and her sister were adopted by a brother and sister. Mia’s “mom” works at Euro Tile & Stone, which held its 3rd annual fundraiser to kick off the Friends For Life! Walk™  fundraiser for the Ontario SPCA Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Animal Centre. Not only did this fabulous barbecue and bake sale raise money for our animal centre and awareness about the upcoming walk, but it also helped find forever homes for animals in need. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this event.

If you haven’t yet registered for the Friends for Life! Walk on Saturday, Sept. 24, what are you waiting for? Register for the Walk & Raise $75 online before July 25 and you'll be entered to win 1 of 3 Bowzer Boxes!

Know the Signs of Heatstroke

An afternoon in the garden, or day on the trails, even the most responsible pet owners might be at risk of their pet having heatstroke. Increased heart rate, excessive panting or drooling and listlessness are some of the signs that your pet might be in danger.

Keep your pets safe by learning the signs and what to do if your pet suffers from heatstroke.

Animal Transfer Program Set to Help 60 Cats Find New Homes

The Ontario SPCA, in partnership with Beat the Heat Kenora and the Welland & District SPCA, is excited to take part in another great transfer initiative that will see 60 cats getting a second chance at finding their forever home.

As part of the Ontario SPCA’s Animal Transfer Program, the cats, which are coming from the Kenora and Thunder Bay areas, will be transported to central Ontario where they will be examined and prepared to be adopted out into new homes by the Welland & District SPCA with support from the Ontario SPCA.

Cats need more than nine lives, they need a second chance and this is Mission Possible via collaboration and dedication to Animal Welfare!

Vinny Found Her Forever Home

Do you remember Vinny, a five-year-old female boxer looking for a home? We’re happy to report that this shy, yet charming, canine was adopted on June 4.

Her new family tells us she has made friends with two neighbour dogs and is getting to know Duncan, the family cat, who was also adopted from the Ontario SPCA.
