Register Today to Walk for Animals in Need
The Friends
For Life! Walk™ presented by Pedigree® is taking place at The Wye Marsh on Sunday, September 25th, 2016! Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to keep current on the latest
giveaways, flash contests and everything you need to get you and your pup ready
for the Walk!
The Friends for Life! Walk™ is a major fundraiser for the Ontario SPCA
and its Affiliates. You don’t need to bring a dog to the Walk to participate.
In fact, you don’t even need to own a pet! The Friends for Life! Walk™ is a way
for you to give back to your community by helping animals in need.
We can’t do this alone, which is why we need you to go the extra mile to
help vulnerable animals.

Take the #NoHotPets Pledge
Did you know that dogs have a
limited ability to sweat and that even a short time in a hot environment can be
life-threatening? A dog’s normal body temperature is about 39°C, a temperature
of 41°C can be withstood only for a very short time before irreparable brain
damage or even death can occur.
We need you to help spread the
message about the danger of leaving pets unattended in vehicles. Take the pledge to receive a No Hot Pets car
decal to show your support. You can also invite friends to take the pledge on
social media using #nohotpets for a chance to win a weekly “cool pet” prize.
No Excuses. No Hot Pets.

Long-term tenants find forever home
When animals come into our care from a
neglectful situation, they’re often unkempt and lack basic care. When Jacinta
and Rebecca were brought to our centre, it was apparent they needed proper
nutrition and grooming. Thus began their seven-month journey with us.
We are happy to report, these long-term tenants were adopted this month
to an amazing couple who originally came into the centre looking for a young,
large-breed dog. They met these lovely senior girls and then came back a week
later and said they couldn’t stop thinking about them and wanted to adopt! As
much as we are going to miss them, we are so thankful and overjoyed for them to
have a forever home.
There are many sweet animals looking for their forever home. Take the Meet Your Match® survey and find your perfect match.

Special Thanks to Tiffany!
Tiffany, a.k.a. Wonder Woman, is amazing and always helps us out in a pinch.
Tiffany assists with any transportation that we need, including transfers, vet
runs, bottle runs and trips to various wildlife rescues. We’re so thankful to
have volunteers like Tiffany who assist us with the many tasks that come up
throughout the week when working with animals.
She has an enormous passion for Animal Welfare and we are so lucky to have her as part of our team!

Community contributions help change animals’ lives
Special thanks to Wyevale Central Public
School and to Advanced Foot & Orthotic clinic in Midland, which both held
third party fundraising events for our Centre.
The "Wildcats" at Wyevale Central Public School had a pansy drive. They
grew all the flowers and then sold them with all proceeds benefiting the
animals in need in our community.
The staff at Advanced Foot & Orthotic
Clinic has a donation drive and donated hundreds of dollars in pet supplies for
our furry friends at the Centre including collars, cat and dog toys, cleaning
supplies, food and bedding.
The animals give a huge thank you to everyone involved for all their hard work!
