November 2016

Happy November! We're celebrating iAdopt for the Holidays and National Adopt a Senior Pet Month! Stop by to meet all of our furry friends, including our sensational seniors!

Newshound iAdopt Large

‘Tis the season to adopt

iAdopt for the Holidays is now in full swing, which means we’re asking you to consider giving a homeless animal a loving home.

Until Dec. 31, the Ontario SPCA, as well as SPCAs, Humane Societies and Animal Welfare groups across Canada are encouraging people to choose pet adoption as their first option when bringing home a new family member. Be sure to visit your local participating society to take part in iAdopt for the Holidays and change an animal’s life this holiday season.

PLUS during the campaign period, all cats and kittens at Ontario SPCA animal centres are available for adoption for only $99 and you’ll receive a free box of Arm & Hammer® clumping cat litter while supplies last!

Already have an adopted pet? Enter the iAdopt contest for a chance to WIN free pet food for a year from Royal Canin! Visit iadopt.ca for contest details.

Canada’s first Provincial Dog Rehabilitation Centre will assist dogs that require extra care and attention

The campaign to build the Ontario SPCA Provincial Dog Rehabilitation Centre is now underway! This one-of-a-kind facility will fill a critical gap in current services by addressing the special needs of dogs most difficult to adopt.

The Provincial Dog Rehabilitation Centre will be built on Peterborough Humane Society’s lush new 20-acre property, giving dogs a fresh start with lots of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Designed from the ground up for dogs who require extra care and attention, the building will feature an abundance of natural light to promote healing and a layout that incorporates the latest research and best practices in animal centre management.

Take a few minutes to learn about this campaign in our Animals’ Voice Pawdcast.

Mark your Calendars!

The Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Animal Centre has a busy November and December coming up, with lots of events on the calendar! We're hosting our annual Santa Pet Pics from Dec. 1-4 at Global Pet Foods in Orangeville. We're also opening our doors for a Christmas Open House on Dec. 21. It’s the perfect day to stop by with your family, learn more about our centre and meet the animals looking for a forever home.

Stay tuned for more events and updates on our Facebook page and our website. We look forward to seeing you!

Meet Judy, the newest addition to the Rocky & Friends collection

This holiday season, we’re excited to introduce Judy as the newest plush in our Rocky & Friends collection. Like the other Friends, Judy is created in the image of a very real animal who got a second chance because of caring and kind people like you who support the Ontario SPCA.

At just three weeks old, Judy and her family were part of a very special journey. The Ontario SPCA was invited by a remote Northern community to assist in a stray dog transfer and rehoming operation.

At the Ontario SPCA, Judy and her six siblings were put in the loving care of a temporary foster home to be nurtured until they were old enough to be adopted. This black Shepherd-Labrador mix and her siblings were all adopted and are very happy in their new forever homes.

When you give this plush toy as a gift, you will be helping to rescue other dogs like Judy.

Alumni Update: Kiana

We've had so many wonderful Alumni updates recently and we love them! Our most recent update is from Kiana's “mom.” Previously named Louise, Kiana was adopted in July and she's fitting in perfectly with her two dog siblings! She's obsessed with water, the fridge and food, and is keeping her mom on her toes. We're so happy to hear that this girl is doing well!

If you'd like to submit your alumni update, please email orangeville@ospca.on.ca or submit it through our Facebook page!

Give back this holiday season

Looking to give back this year, but not break the bank? Why not organize an office party in support of the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Animal Centre! You can have fun with your co-workers and raise awareness about homeless animals by asking for a small donation or items from our wish list. We're always in need of things like pet toys and treats, clumping cat litter, paper towel and more!

If you have any questions, give us a call at 519-942-3140. We'd be happy to help!
