‘Tis the season to adopt
iAdopt for
the Holidays is now in full swing, which means we’re asking you to consider
giving a homeless animal a loving home.
Until Dec.
31, the Ontario SPCA, as well as SPCAs, Humane Societies and Animal Welfare groups
across Canada are encouraging people to choose pet adoption as their first
option when bringing home a new family member. Be
sure to visit your local participating society to take part in iAdopt for the Holidays and change an
animal’s life this holiday season.
PLUS during the campaign period, all cats
and kittens at Ontario SPCA animal centres are available for adoption for only $99 and
you’ll receive a free box of Arm & Hammer® clumping cat litter while
supplies last!
Already have an adopted pet? Enter the iAdopt
contest for a chance to WIN free pet food for a year from Royal Canin!

Canada’s first Provincial Dog Rehabilitation Centre will assist dogs that require extra care and attention
The campaign to build the Ontario SPCA Provincial Dog Rehabilitation Centre is now underway! This one-of-a-kind facility will fill a critical gap in current services by addressing the special needs of dogs most difficult to adopt.
The Provincial Dog Rehabilitation Centre will be built on Peterborough Humane Society’s lush new 20-acre property, giving dogs a fresh start with lots of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Designed from the ground up for dogs who require extra care and attention, the building will feature an abundance of natural light to promote healing and a layout that incorporates the latest research and best practices in animal centre management.
Take a few minutes to learn about this campaign in our
Animals’ Voice Pawdcast.

Trixi
loses an eye, but gains a new family
Trixi
came to the Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre this past
summer and has had quite a journey. When she arrived at the centre she was on
medication for an eye ulcer, which vets hoped would heal. The medications did
not work, so other treatments such as “graphing” were used. Unfortunately,
those treatments were unsuccessful and Trixi required surgery to remove her
eye. Her purr-fect adopters came to our centre within days of her being up for
adoption and took her home.
Our team works tirelessly to ensure the best quality of life for each animal
that comes into our care. Stories like Trixi’s demonstrate the care, dedication
and obligation that the Ontario SPCA team commits to, day in and day out, and
what supporters like you make possible!
Please
make a special gift today to change the life of an animal like Trixi.

Meet Judy, the newest addition to the Rocky & Friends collection
This holiday season, we’re excited to introduce Judy as the newest plush in our Rocky & Friends collection. Like the other Friends, Judy is created in the image of a very real animal who got a second chance because of caring and kind people like you who support the Ontario SPCA.
At just three weeks old, Judy and her family were part of a very special journey. The Ontario SPCA was invited by a remote Northern community to assist in a stray dog transfer and rehoming operation.
At the Ontario SPCA, Judy and her six siblings were put in the loving care of a temporary foster home to be nurtured until they were old enough to be adopted. This black Shepherd-Labrador mix and her siblings were all adopted and are very happy in their new forever homes.
When you give this plush toy as a gift, you will be helping to rescue other dogs like Judy.

Volunteers
make a difference
Our
Volunteer of the Month for November is Tom. Always going above and beyond, Tom is
a “Jack of all trades.” He volunteers to do a multitude of tasks around the
centre – from small jobs to big ones – and is entrusted with essential roles
and responsibilities. Tom has built strong relationships not only with staff
and other volunteers, but also our partners.
We cannot thank Tom and all our
volunteers enough for their hard work on behalf of the animals in our care.

Golf
tournament gives animals a second chance
The
first annual Dave Culotta Memorial Golf tournament was recently held at the
Nobleton Lakes Golf Club in honour of Dave Culotta, an animal lover and
supporter of the Ontario SPCA. Dave’s brother Jamie Culotta and close friend
Bryan McGahey worked diligently to put on this special event for family and
friends to gather and remember Dave while also raising funds for the Ontario
SPCA. It was a cool day, but the rain held off and everyone found warmth in each
other’s company. They shared memories over dinner and enjoyed a silent auction
and raffle.
After
the tournament, Bryan and Jamie presented a cheque to the Provincial Education &
Animal Centre staff, which will help support the life-saving work we do each
and every day. Jamie and Bryan are already making plans for a bigger and better
event next year in support of the Ontario SPCA.
Thank
you, Bryan and Jamie, for your support!
