Friends for Life! Walk™ a great success
This year’s Friends for Life! Walk™ was a resounding success. The Midland walk attracted 60 fantastic people and 40 adorable canines to show their support for animal welfare. Our wonderful community raised an incredible $10,000!!!
A huge thank you to Wye Marsh for the beautiful location, the incredible folks from Paul’s No Frills for providing food and refreshments, the Bay Street Tim Horton’s for the coffee and Timbits, and Pet Valu and Royal Canin for providing the wonderful gift bags.
We can’t forget a big thanks to Well Heeled and their amazing agility dogs, as well as all the hard working volunteers who made the event possible and awesome.
Thank you to everyone for making this year’s Walk a success!

October is RVT month
The Ontario
SPCA is excited to celebrate Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) all month
long. RVTs are an integral part of any animal health care team, but they are
particularly valuable in a shelter environment. These skilled, trained
professionals offer support on how to manage the animals in our care and
confidently provide their expertise in terms of medical advice and next steps.
Join us in
celebrating and thanking all of our hard-working RVTs out there making a
difference!
Visit our blog to learn more about RVTs
and their role in animal care and shelter medicine. |
Keep your pets safe this Halloween
Halloween can be a stressful time for your pets. Whether you are dressing up your furry friend or staying home handing out treats, the hubbub of activity can be exciting and a little scary.
If your pet is a little weary of strangers coming to the door, it might be best to keep them in an enclosed room or crate. Pet costumes should also fit appropriately and have no small bits to chew. Most importantly, candy and chocolate can be fatal if ingested. Please ensure treats are kept safely away from your pets.
Keep your pets safe this Halloween by visiting our blog for more great tips.

Dedicated volunteer honoured at Friends for Life! Walk™
Our dear friend and dedicated volunteer, David Straney was honoured at this year’s Friends for Life! Walk™ for his 19 years of service. Fondly known around the Ontario SPCA Midland & District Animal Centre as Mr. Straney, David arrives every day, rain, sun or snow, to walk the dogs in our care.
Mr. Straney always carries his camera to capture every dog’s story, from arrival to adoption. His favorite photos to share are the ones of the dogs with their new families as they leave for their new life. Mr. Straney also attends every event in support of the animals.
The staff and the animals thank Mr. Straney for his continued support! His dedication is truly an inspiration!
