iadopt for the Holidays Contest

‘Tis the Season to Adopt

iAdopt for the Holidays is now in full swing, which means we’re asking you to consider giving a homeless animal a loving home.

Until Dec. 31, the Ontario SPCA, as well as SPCAs, Humane Societies and animal welfare groups across Canada are encouraging people to choose pet adoption as their first option when bringing home a new family member. Be sure to visit your local participating society to take part in iAdopt for the Holidays and change an animal’s life this holiday season.

PLUS during the campaign period, when you adopt a cat or kitten at an Ontario SPCA Animal Centre, you’ll receive a free box of Arm & Hammer Slide™ Cat Litter while supplies last!

Already have an adopted pet? Enter the iAdopt contest for a chance to WIN free pet food for a year from Royal Canin! Visit iadopt.ca for contest details.

 Wink after surgery
Will you Help Give Wink a Second Chance?

Wink is a sweet four-month-old domestic shorthair cat that came into the care of the Ontario SPCA Huron County Animal Centre with a previous eye injury caused by a corneal ulcer.

Our little friend was scheduled for his neuter procedure when the vet took a second look at his eye and noticed that it was quickly deteriorating. Wink would eventually be in extreme pain and needed to have the injured eye surgically removed.

The surgery was a success. Wink's eye had to be sutured shut but he is expected to make a full recovery and will be available for adoption soon. With Winks’ zest for life, he will make a great addition to a loving family!

The worst is over for Wink, but the cost of his surgery goes above and beyond our normal cost of care.

Can you help us with a special gift today?

Your support helps create new beginnings for animals like Wink who deserve a second chance at happiness.

Cat Litter Best Practices

Litter box issues are one of the most common reasons cats find themselves back at Ontario SPCA Animal Centres. Arm & Hammer™, one of our partners for the iAdopt for the Holidays campaign, have some great advice on litter box best practices to help encourage a happy and healthy transition to the new home.

Creating an environment that falls in line with cat’s natural instincts is key. Read our blog post Litter box best practices – Arm & Hammer™ for great tips and set your feline friend up for success.

 Guinea Pigs  Renfrew_Small_Wishlist.jpg

Introducing Elvis Piglsley & Piggie Smalls

We have two giddy Guinea Pigs looking for their fur-ever homes!

Did you know?

  • Guinea pigs are social creatures and generally like the company of other guinea pigs and human interaction. They love grooming each other, making them very clean animals to keep as pets.
  • They are herbivores and LOVE to eat. Guinea pigs require lots of fresh water, hay and guinea pig pellets.
  • Average lifespan of a guinea pig is 7-9 years; they are a long-term commitment and will fill your life with love and fun for many years.

Do they sound like the perfect pet for you? Stop by our Centre at 48 East St. in Goderich to meet these handsome, funny boys!

Making a List and Checking it Twice

You can help make a big difference for the animals in our care! The animals have made their holiday wish list and are hoping for the following gifts:
  • Cat toys and treats of any kind
  • Unscented, non-clumping litter
  • Laundry and dish soap
  • Small blankets, towels and washcloths (gently used are welcome too)
If you want to help out but are unable to make it in to our Centre to donate items, there are many other ways you can help from home! Please visit our website to learn more about how you can be a hero this holiday season!

The animals, staff and volunteers appreciate your kindness and generosity. Thank you for your continued support!

Make a Will Month

November is Make a Will month, so we're talking about legacies, animals and Wills!

On this week's Animals' Voice Pawdcast, we interview Nancy Hull, lifelong supporter of animals and the Ontario SPCA. She shares with us why she thinks it's important for animal lovers to make a Will, and why she chose to include the Ontario SPCA in her Will.
