iadopt for the Holidays Contest

‘Tis the Season to Adopt

iAdopt for the Holidays is now in full swing, which means we’re asking you to consider giving a homeless animal a loving home.

Until Dec. 31, the Ontario SPCA, as well as SPCAs, Humane Societies and animal welfare groups across Canada are encouraging people to choose pet adoption as their first option when bringing home a new family member. Be sure to visit your local participating society to take part in iAdopt for the Holidays and change an animal’s life this holiday season.

PLUS during the campaign period, when you adopt a cat or kitten at an Ontario SPCA Animal Centre, you’ll receive a free box of Arm & Hammer Slide™ Cat Litter while supplies last!

Already have an adopted pet? Enter the iAdopt contest for a chance to WIN free pet food for a year from Royal Canin! Visit iadopt.ca for contest details.

 Nacho
Nacho Needs your Help

Nacho is a sweet seven-month-old domestic shorthair cat that came into our care in pretty rough shape. He had been vomiting, was very lethargic and extremely dehydrated.

Upon examination, x-rays showed that Nacho ingested what appeared to be a ribbon with a metal clasp. Poor Nacho was in serious discomfort and needed exploratory surgery. As it turns out, this little guy not only swallowed a ribbon, but tinfoil and the end of a phone charger.

Nacho's surgery was a success but his journey back to health isn't over yet, which is why we need your support.

The cost of Nacho’s treatment and care is expected to exceed $1,800. Please make a special gift today to help Nacho, and animals like him, get the life-saving care they require. Once recovered, Nacho will be available for adoption. Be sure to check out Facebook for updates.

Cat Litter Best Practices

Litter box issues are one of the most common reasons cats find themselves back at Ontario SPCA Animal Centres. Arm & Hammer™, one of our partners for the iAdopt for the Holidays campaign, have some great advice on litter box best practices to help encourage a happy and healthy transition to the new home.

Creating an environment that falls in line with cat’s natural instincts is key. Read our blog post Litter box best practices – Arm & Hammer™ for great tips and set your feline friend up for success.

 Leah  China
Leah Lends a Helping Hand

The animals at the Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre are so fortunate to have friends like Leah, one of our dedicated volunteers. Leah spends time providing enrichment to the animals, walking the dogs and assisting in any way she can.

We want to say a Great Dane thanks to you Leah for being part of our team!

Volunteers are at the heart of our Centre. If you are looking for a meaningful volunteer position, please visit our website and submit an application.
From China with Love

We are thrilled that our sweet China has found a home. After spending quite some time in the care of the Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre, this fun-loving, high spirited girl found her match!

China was one of the dogs that had been transferred from Northern Ontario back in May. After months of patiently waiting for her forever home, China has found the perfect family with two brothers for her to play with. Her new dad just adores her and she will be able to run free on her country property while enjoying walks through the forest and lots of attention from many extended family members.

Make a Will Month

November is Make a Will month, so we're talking about legacies, animals and Wills!

On this week's Animals' Voice Pawdcast, we interview Nancy Hull, lifelong supporter of animals and the Ontario SPCA. She shares with us why she thinks it's important for animal lovers to make a Will, and why she chose to include the Ontario SPCA in her Will.

Visit our website for sample terminology when creating your Will and learn more on how you can Leave a Legacy.
