iadopt for the Holidays Contest

‘Tis the Season to Adopt

iAdopt for the Holidays is now in full swing, which means we’re asking you to consider giving a homeless animal a loving home.

Until Dec. 31, the Ontario SPCA, as well as SPCAs, Humane Societies and animal welfare groups across Canada are encouraging people to choose pet adoption as their first option when bringing home a new family member. Be sure to visit your local participating society to take part in iAdopt for the Holidays and change an animal’s life this holiday season.

PLUS during the campaign period, when you adopt a cat or kitten at an Ontario SPCA Animal Centre, you’ll receive a free box of Arm & Hammer Slide™ Cat Litter while supplies last!

Already have an adopted pet? Enter the iAdopt contest for a chance to WIN free pet food for a year from Royal Canin! Visit iadopt.ca for contest details.

Cat Litter Best Practices

Litter box issues are one of the most common reasons cats find themselves back at Ontario SPCA Animal Centres. Arm & Hammer™, one of our partners for the iAdopt for the Holidays campaign, have some great advice on litter box best practices to help encourage a happy and healthy transition to the new home.

Creating an environment that falls in line with cat’s natural instincts is key. Read our blog post Litter box best practices – Arm & Hammer™ for great tips and set your feline friend up for success.

 Princess  Matty
A Princess in Need

Pregnant and abandoned, Princess was emaciated, suffering from hair loss and covered in fleas when she came in to the care of the Ontario SPCA Barrie Animal Centre. Her health further deteriorated when complicated labour resulted in a prolapsed rectum. Veterinary staff worked hard to try and save the kittens, even taking them home at night for feedings. Unfortunately, due to Princess’ poor health, the kittens were too sick and passed away.

After the birth, Princess had to undergo multiple life saving surgeries. We are happy to announce that she has since recovered and is now looking for her forever home. Princess is a social butterfly, loves to ride around on your shoulders and, just like a true princess, wants to be your one and only.

Princess has a second chance at life thanks to the amazing support of our community.

Please consider giving a gift today to help animals like Princess find their happy ending.
A Makeover for Matty

A very sweet little Bichon/Shih Tzu mix was brought into the Ontario SPCA Barrie Animal Centre with his fur completed matted. Trying to groom him would have been very traumatizing, so we brought him over to the spay/neuter clinic where we were able to sedate him and shave him down. Matty, as the staff now call him, woke up with a renewed energy.

It didn’t take long for Matty to find his forever home once he was refreshed. He now spends his time happily lying in his new bed, chasing stuffies and enjoying the second chance he so rightfully deserves. Congrats Matty!

Love for all Shapes and Sizes

Peanut, a sweet pug mix, was found as a stray and brought to the Ontario SPCA Barrie Animal Centre. Staff and volunteers immediately fell in love with this full figured beauty. Peanut may have been a bit on the large side, but her heart was even bigger.

At first, Peanut didn’t like her daily walks, but after her first bath and nail trim, she proudly pranced around.

As quick as she captured our hearts at the Animal Centre, Peanut also captured the heart of her new owner. We are so happy she found her new forever home and will certainly miss her.

We have animals in all shapes and sizes looking for homes. Adopt a furry friend today!
