The benefits of pets on mental health
At the Ontario SPCA, we are fortunate to be working to save animals and have pets as part of out daily lives. Pets not only help increase productivity, but they can also have a positive impact on your mental health.
As conversations about mental health continue to be encouraged, we wanted to share some resources about the benefits of pets on a variety of mental health disorders including depression, autism, anxiety, and more.
Read our recent blog Benefits of pets for our mental health to learn more on how pets can enrich your life.

Concerned citizen helps wounded cat
Alone and wounded, Jim was brought to the Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre by a concerned citizen who noticed him hanging around. Upon examination, it was determined that Jim needed to be treated for an injury on the side of his body.
Jim is now doing very well and we can’t wait until he is able to meet his perfect match. This sweet boy is just over a year old and will make a great companion once he has recovered. Follow us on Facebook for updates.
Please consider making a donation to help animals like Jim get the second chance they deserve. |
Flash is one funny bunny
Our cute little girl Flash is a very funny and sweet bunny! Flash is only 10 months old and enjoys having lots of space to hop around and play with her toys. She is very smart too and we have been working with her to use her litter box.
If you are looking for an independent bunny that will provide sunshine to your day, please drop by the Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre and meet Flash! |

Theatre show attracts animal lovers
Volunteers (from left to right) Lynn, Chris, Erin and Sirrka were on site at the Orillia Community Church for a live show called Dog Park Jamboree, written by the late David Fanstone.
These lovely ladies spent their time greeting patrons and collecting donations for the Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre. The show attracted many animal welfare supporters who generously donated towards the Animal Centre’s new sign project.
