Don Cherry No Hot Pets

Don Cherry wants you to know there's never an excuse for leaving a pet unattended in a vehicle. If you find a pet unattended in a hot vehicle, call 310-SPCA (7722) in Ontario or your local police department.

Businesses pledge support for No Hot Pets

Last year, the Ontario SPCA launched its pet friendly business directory in support of the No Hot Pets campaign. The directory was a huge success with hundreds of businesses across the province taking the pledge and helping spread the awareness of the dangers of leaving pets unattended in vehicles.

The 2018 Pet Friendly Business Directory is now available!

Businesses who sign up to show their commitment to keeping pets cool this summer will receive a printable sign to display in their store window, letting pet owners know they can bring their animals inside while they shop or do business.

From selecting your new home to unpacking that final box, the ASPCA has some fantastic tips on how to make the move a smooth one while minimizing the amount of stress on your pets.

Find out how you can you help make your move easier on your pets by reading the blog How to successfully move homes with your pet.
Road trip with your pet?

Summer is a great time to get in your car and embark on an adventure! If you plan to bring pets with you though, it’s important to keep a few important safety tips in mind.

Road trips are generally the easiest and most relaxing way to travel with your pet. Train your pet to travel in a car by taking them on lots of short car trips to places they love. For your pet’s safety and your own, confine them to the back seat, either in a carrier or pet seatbelt (a special harness that attaches to the car’s seatbelt).

Keep your pet comfortable throughout the trip. Read the blog Road trip with your pet for tips to prepare for a great adventure with your pet. Make sure you have a plan in place so your pets are never left unattended in your vehicle.

Sybil
Hannah
Sybil finds her forever home thanks to help from a local vet clinic

Sybil was on the road to recovery after being cared for by a local veterinary clinic. The clinic reached out to the Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre to help find this spirited young cat a place to call home.

We were happy to assist and took Sybil into our care in hopes of matching her up with the perfect family. It didn’t take long for Sybil to win over the heart of her new mom who just adores her. She is now enjoying her new home and spends hours basking in the sunlight by the window.
Helpful Hannah is adored by all

There’s no doubt that Hannah is one valuable volunteer here at the Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre. Hannah is a university student who finds the time to come in every day to walk the dogs and spends hours with them working on enrichment activities.

When Hannah walks through the doors, everyone is happy to see her, especially the dogs who look forward to playing with her. Hannah is truly adored by all and we can’t thank her enough for her dedication to helping the animals in our care.

A Sweet Survivor

Survivor was a sweet, gentle dog who came to the Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre for a second chance. This friendly boy was always so happy that you would never imagine he was suffering from dental issues.

Survivor needed to have three of his teeth extracted. The dental surgery was a success and we are thrilled to report that he has found a forever home.

Happy endings like this are possible thanks to the wonderful support of our community. Survivor’s surgery was close to $1300. Please consider making a special gift today to help other animals like Survivor get the second chance they deserve.
