Don Cherry No Hot Pets

Don Cherry wants you to know there's never an excuse for leaving a pet unattended in a vehicle. If you find a pet unattended in a hot vehicle, call 310-SPCA (7722) in Ontario or your local police department.

Businesses pledge support for No Hot Pets

Last year, the Ontario SPCA launched its pet friendly business directory in support of the No Hot Pets campaign. The directory was a huge success with hundreds of businesses across the province taking the pledge and helping spread the awareness of the dangers of leaving pets unattended in vehicles.

The 2018 Pet Friendly Business Directory is now available!

Businesses who sign up to show their commitment to keeping pets cool this summer will receive a printable sign to display in their store window, letting pet owners know they can bring their animals inside while they shop or do business.

Road trip with your pet?

Summer is a great time to get in your car and embark on an adventure! If you plan to bring pets with you though, it’s important to keep a few important safety tips in mind.

Road trips are generally the easiest and most relaxing way to travel with your pet. Train your pet to travel in a car by taking them on lots of short car trips to places they love. For your pet’s safety and your own, confine them to the back seat, either in a carrier or pet seatbelt (a special harness that attaches to the car’s seatbelt).

Keep your pet comfortable throughout the trip. Read the blog Road trip with your pet for tips to prepare for a great adventure with your pet. Make sure you have a plan in place so your pets are never left unattended in your vehicle.

Solo
Quin
Senior finds a new family to live out his golden years

Little Solo is a 15-year-old Pomeranian that came into the care of the Ontario SPCA Muskoka Animal Centre back in June. Sadly, Solo’s owner had passed away and he had nowhere else to go.

Solo underwent a comprehensive medical exam and geriatric blood profile and was deemed to be in good health for his age. Although this little fella is hard of hearing and his vision is not what it used to be, he loved to hang out with us in the office and oversee daily operations.

He was a happy, friendly little guy who just wanted a family of his own again. After a special shout out for Solo on social media, we found the perfect family willing to share their lives with him. Not only did he find a couple of wonderful humans to cater to his needs, he was also blessed with a canine pal and two feline companions.

A big thank you to Erin and Brad for welcoming this little guy into their lives!
Happy trails for Quin

Many of you might remember Quin, a buckskin colt that was born in our care last May after his mom was brought to the Ontario SPCA Muskoka Animal Centre as a result of an investigation. Quinn arrived healthy and happy, was gelded in February and kept up to date on worming, vaccinations and farrier care.

Although Quin was comfortable living in our care, he needed a place to call his own. We are pleased to share that Quin was adopted by a wonderful lady named Mary and now spends his days with his two new equine pals Tigger and Indy. He has now settled in with his new family and has begun the next chapter in his life!
