For the most part, homeless pet owners provide the animals they care for with love and companionship, but they often lack the financial ability to spay or neuter, provide vaccinations, and basic animal care supplies that we often take for granted.

In the latest Animals’ Voice Pawdcast, Todd Stosuy, Field Services Manager with the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter describes his work with people experiencing homelessness and how to help them care for their animals.

Thank you for keeping pets out of hot vehicles!

It’s hard to believe another summer has come and gone! We want to thank all of you for participating in our No Hot Pets campaign this year. Together, you’re helping to spread awareness about the dangers of leaving pets unattended in vehicles in the summer heat.

In 2018:
  • Close to 5,000 people took the pledge to show their commitment to not leaving their pet(s) in their vehicles.
  • Hundreds of calls of dogs left in cars were reported to our 310-SPCA (7722) dispatch number.
  • Over 200 businesses joined our pet-friendly business directory.
Thank you for taking the initiative to spread the word about this important message!
