Helping the homeless and their pets
For the most part, homeless pet owners provide the animals they care for with love and companionship, but they often lack the financial ability to spay or neuter, provide vaccinations, and basic animal care supplies that we often take for granted.
In the latest Animals’ Voice Pawdcast, Todd Stosuy, Field Services Manager with the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter describes his work with people experiencing homelessness and how to help them care for their animals.

Smiling faces and great stories
It was a truly rewarding and inspiring visit recently to the Riverview Heights Retirement Residence with some of our furry little friends. Not only do the residents embrace the time spent with the animals, but our four legged chums also get some extra TLC!
The staff also looks forward to these visits, listening to the residents reminisce about old family pets. Their stories are always so heartwarming!
If you know a retirement residence that would benefit from some furry friend visits, please contact the Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Animal Centre at 613-635-7508 or email renfrewcounty@ospca.on.ca.

Campers unleash their love for animals
Our campers sure unleashed their love for animals this past summer! Many animal-loving youth joined us for a fun-filled adventurous week! Campers gained valuable animal welfare awareness through hands on interactions and opportunities. We shared a day in the life at Pembroke Animal Hospital, horsed around at Canyon Creek Farm, we cuddled and scrubbed, learned and loved.
Thank you to all our future animal advocates for taking a pawsitive step towards making a difference in the lives of animals! We hope to see you again next year. |
Co-op student gains experience at the Animal Centre
The Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Animal Centre is a great learning environment for students entering the animal care field. We recently had the opportunity to host a Veterinary Assistant student, Charlotte, for a summer co-op.
Charlotte spent her time helping the animals in our care thrive by providing extra enrichment and some good old fashion TLC. It was great watching her learn and grow with us and we wish her and her new kitten, Ptolemy, the very best!
