Felix had a rough start but is ready to find the purr-fect home
Felix is an approximately four-year-old orange tabby cat who came into our care in April. He was brought in by a concerned member of the public after he had been hanging around their property. They could see he needed care and had been trying to catch him.
An examination determined Felix needed medical attention for his eye, he had an ear infection brewing, and his fur was extremely matted. Unfortunately, his eye was too damaged to save. He had surgery to remove his eye, his ears were treated, and his coat shaved down to relieve the matting.
Felix went from being a grumpy fellow to one of the happiest of cats in our centre. He has so much love to give! He will soon be fully recovered and ready to go home with a loving forever family. Interested in adopting Felix?

Paws to say thanks to your veterinary team
Veterinary professionals work hard every day to help keep our pets happy and healthy. It’s time to celebrate and thank them! The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society has partnered with participating SPCAs and humane societies across the province to launch the Veterinary Appreciation Campaign, which runs from June 13-24 in celebration of veterinary professionals.
The Veterinary Appreciation Campaign is a way for pet parents to recognize their local veterinary professionals who give so much. Beginning June 13, show your veterinary team some love by nominating your pet’s veterinary clinic and encourage family and friends to vote to show their support. The veterinary clinic with the most votes will receive a plaque and a complimentary lunch for their staff.
Nominations and voting begin on June 13. Keep an eye out on Monday on our website, and social media channels for more details!

Remembering our furry friends on World Pet Memorial Day
June 14 is World Pet Memorial Day, a day to remember our furry friends who are no longer by our side.
Did you know you can honour your beloved companion (or that of a friend or family member) by making a tribute donation in their memory? You can provide comfort to someone who is grieving by giving them the knowledge an animal in need is being helped in honour of their furry friend. Make a tribute gift.
The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society has also partnered with the Robbie Dean Counselling Centre to present a free, online pet loss support group. The group meets virtually on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The sessions are free and are facilitated by a certified grief counsellor. It’s an opportunity to share the feelings and thoughts experienced during the grief journey.

The Provincial Dog Rehabilitation Centre moves closer to completion
The Ontario SPCA Provincial Dog Rehabilitation Centre is beginning to resemble the world-class facility it will be when it opens later this year!
Much has happened at the site in Peterborough. The interior and exterior details are starting to take shape! The masonry work is complete inside and is currently being painted, and epoxy flooring is being applied. Standing inside the main entrance of the 24,000 square foot facility and looking up at the vaulted ceilings, you can imagine animals coming and going from the sun-filled lobby.
HVAC, plumbing, electrical and sprinklers are currently being installed, windows and doors are going in, and siding is beginning to clad the exterior of the building. Planning is also underway on the final grading that will shape the landscaping around the property.
