Echo

Meet Echo

"Echo" is a 12 year old German Shepherd that was surrendered to us in pitiful shape. Her food allergy and skin infections were ignored her entire life and she was overweight from lack of exercise. Our staff agreed that a good hygienic once-over, with antibiotics to clear up her infections and some regular exercise with our volunteer walking team, would get this ol' gal in shape.

We were fortunate that a volunteer foster family stepped up and agreed that Echo would flourish in a home environment.

They were right! In no time at all, Echo was flourishing. Her eyes brightened, her skin cleared up, the itching stopped, and she had a new wag in her tail and a fresh spring in her step.

Congratulations to all involved with this success story. It was a pleasure being a part of Echo's journey.

 Laura

Volunteer Spotlight

We have amazing volunteers at the Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch. Laura was one of them. She was such an amazing volunteer that we ended up hiring her!

Laura took on duties above what was asked of her; she was involved in customer service, events, promotion, animal care, and even building maintenance. Any branch would be lucky to have her, and we’re thrilled that it was ours.

Welcome to the team, Laura. We all know how great you’re going to be!

Visit the Get Involved section on our website for more information on volunteer opportunities.

No Hot Pets!

The award-winning No Hot Pets campaign is back!

The Ontario SPCA receives hundreds of reports of pets being left in cars every year.

The Ontario SPCA and Cadillac Fairview are working together with participating shelters across Canada to share the dangers of leaving pets unattended in hot vehicles.

We are asking for your help in sharing this message too. When you take the pledge NOT to leave your pet in your vehicle, you will receive a free No Hot Pets decal in the mail. Take the pledge now!

Check out our collaborative PSA with York Region Police and Toronto Police ServicesSee more by clicking here.

If you see a pet in a hot vehicle, report it! Reporting is as easy as dialing 310-SPCA.

Lets have no hot pets this summer!

Friends For Life! Walk

Tails are wagging all across Ontario as we announce the launch of the 2014 Friends for Life! Walk™ .

The Ontario SPCA Friends for Life! Walk™ is a provincial program of the Ontario SPCA and its Communities, designed to raise funds and awareness for the protection and care of all animals in Ontario.

September 20th and 21st, 2014 is the Friends for
Life! Walk Weekend to Save Pets. Around the province, thousands of walk participants will enjoy a stroll around a park in their community to help raise support for the animals in need across Ontario. Even people without pets can come out to enjoy the day and support this worthwhile cause.

To find a walk near you, and to register, please visit www.friendsforlifewalk.ca.

Help us make this a weekend to save pets!
