A Happy Ending for Nora

“Nora” came into the care of the Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch in late 2013 as a neglected and frightened pup.

Soon enough, Nora was all cleaned up and her vet visit proved that she was pregnant. It was decided that it would be best for Nora to be brought to a foster home.

So off she went to Nicole’s home with her two Jack Russell Corgi mixes, “Brie” and “Austin”, and her Toy Fox Terrier “Hannah”.

Soon after, Nora gave birth to two healthy puppies that have since been adopted. Nora is now a bouncing, happy, and trusting Shih-Tzu mix.  She found her forever home with Nicole, who could not let her go.

Congratulations to Nora and her new family!

Thank You Barrie Bingo Volunteers

The Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch's partnership with the Barrie Bingo Sponsors Association helps us to generate a large part of our monthly revenue that goes directly to the cost of animal care.

We have a great team of volunteers that ensure the attending customers are taken care of properly.

Bingo volunteer responsibilities include: addressing customer issues; assisting with electronics; collecting used cards; serving food; promoting the charitable side of Bingo at Boardwalk Gaming Centre; assisting with promotions; as well as assisting with anything else the gaming centre requires.

Our volunteers work hard as part of the team at the Gaming Centre to raise funds for the animals and we wish to thank them!

Unique Fundraiser Helps Animals in Need

Matrix Tattoo and Piercing in Barrie approached the Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch with a unique and fun fundraiser: They were offering either a dog or cat paw tattoo for $30!

The lineup was so long that although the event was supposed to be over by 4pm, they stayed open until 7pm to squeeze that 100th customer in!

In a single day of tattooing, they managed to raise and donate $3,000.00 to the Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch.

The Matrix team were so happy with their fundraiser that they plan on doing it again next year.

Thank you, Matrix team! Your great idea went above and beyond!

Host an event to benefit the animals at the Barrie Branch.

iAdopt Urgent Appeal a Great Success

Ontario SPCA branches across the province recently experienced a high influx of adult cats in their care so we created an iAdopt Urgent Appeal campaign, asking people to consider adopting an adult cat from their local branch.

From June 20 - July 6, 2014, adult cat adoption fees were reduced to only $50.

We are happy to report that in just over two weeks, 224 adult cats were adopted from our branches across the province, and are now enjoying thier forever homes. Thank you to all those who took part!

If you see a pet in a hot vehicle, report it! Reporting is as easy as dialing 310-SPCA.
