Not just Dogs and Cats

The Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre (PEAC) not only helps creatures with fur, we also help ones with feathers as well!

PEAC recently adopted out an Amazon Blue Front parrot that we’d named “Bootstrap”, now renamed “Niblet”.

Her new owner Stacy, sent us an update telling us that Niblet was settling in wonderfully: "Within days he was on my shoulder and interacting with the whole family,” she wrote. “Thanks so much for helping us. I hope every animal in the shelter gets a loving home."

We think every animal here deserves a similar happy ending too!

American Express at the Provincial Education & Animal Center

A big Thank You goes out to the American Express #SERVE2GETHER TEAM for taking the time to come and help out at the Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre (PEAC) last month.

The volunteers helped refresh paint in various areas of the shelter - such as the walls and halls - and helped mark out a new walking trail for the grateful pets at PEAC.

What an AWESOME day!

Visit the Get Involved section on our website for more information on volunteer opportunities.

On the Road to Recovery

“Little Fred”, the kitten that came to the Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre in dire need of medical intervention, is well on his way to recovery and is up for adoption!

Thank you to everyone who donated towards Little Fred's surgery to repair his fractures.

He can now be seen playing and exercising at the adoption centre. Come on down and meet Little Fred; he’d sure be glad to see you!

If you haven’t already done so, please consider donating to Little Fred or animals like him. Your generous support, allows us to continue our work, helping animals in need.

iAdopt Urgent Appeal a Great Success

Ontario SPCA branches across the province recently experienced a high influx of adult cats in their care so we created an iAdopt Urgent Appeal campaign, asking people to consider adopting an adult cat from their local branch.

From June 20 - July 6, 2014, adult cat adoption fees were reduced to only $50.

We are happy to report that in just over two weeks, 224 adult cats were adopted from our branches, and are now enjoying thier forever homes. Thank you to all those who took part!

Don't Forget Your Pet

The Ontario SPCA and participating shelters across Canada are working together to share the dangers of leaving pets unattended in hot vehicles.

We are asking for your help in sharing this message too. Take the pledge now!

Check out our collaborative PSA with York Region Police and Toronto Police Services.

If you see a pet in a hot vehicle, report it! Reporting is as easy as dialing 310-SPCA.

Lets have no hot pets this summer!
