Ready to play and be loved
When the itchy, uncomfortable Brussels Griffon mixed-breed dog named “Gertie” came to us, she had skin damage and hair loss from chronic skin irritation. Veterinarians determined she had Flea Allergy Dermatitis, and were able to treat her condition effectively. Although the hair may not grow in all areas, her sociable, outgoing personality outshines her healing fur. Gertie will flourish in a loving, engaging household and enjoys the company of other dogs, children and cats as well. Her playful antics will bring a smile to your face, come out to visit her at the Ontario SPCA Muskoka Animal Centre or contact us by phone at (705) 645-6225 to learn more. Emergency veterinary care saves Lou
Wandering alone at the side of the road in Perry Sound was a frightened three-month-old Beagle puppy, later named “Lou”. She was visibly injured, and veterinarians discovered after her rescue that she had a broken elbow. She was immediately given pain medication and booked for surgery. Due to the severe nature of the injury, Lou’s leg could not be saved and the limb was amputated. Despite her terrible ordeal, Lou never stopped fighting. She made a full recovery and has learned to adapt. This plucky little Beagle now has a second chance at finding a forever home. Every day, injured and abandoned pets come into the care of shelters across the province. Many require lifesaving treatment and costly medication, just like Lou. Your donations to the Ontario SPCA Muskoka Animal Centre make it possible to provide the necessary treatment to not just recover, but thrive and be loved by a new family. Donate now!
