Adorable bunnies find new homes

There’s nothing we love more than a story with a happy ending!

Two tiny baby Netherland Dwarf-mix rabbits were found in a shed on a property that had been recently purchased, along with their mother and another rabbit.

After being brought to the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Branch, the little guys were later named “Bambi” and “Floppy”, and our staff loved seeing them grow, explore and thrive!

Once Bambi and Floppy were mature enough, they were ready to be put up for adoption and have since found their new forever homes.

Moyra has a passion for helping animals

This month’s volunteer spotlight for the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Branch is Moyra.

Moyra has been with our branch for over a year, and has consistently demonstrated her hard work ethic and love for animals, especially the cats!

Moyra arrives early in the mornings to help with animal care, and our staff always enjoy her company.

Moyra’s generous donation of her time and care is just another sterling example of how others can support the animals in our shelter.

Thank you Moyra for all of your efforts and for being a part of our team!

Youth Group rises to the challenge!

We would like to thank the Saint Mark’s Youth Group from Saint Mark’s Anglican Church in Orangeville for their recent fundraiser benefiting the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Branch.

The ambitious teenaged members participated in a 29-hour famine fundraiser this past May, raising over $1,000 for the animals in the care of our branch!

Past adoptee “Monty”, a puppy who was born and raised in the branch, stopped by with his new owner to pay the group a visit and thank them for their efforts with happy tail wags. He was a big hit with the youth group members!

Thank you again everyone from Saint Mark’s for your generous donation, and for choosing us as your fundraiser’s recipient. The animals extend their gratitude!

Fall in Love - iAdopt for Fall

Fall is a great time to welcome a new addition into your family! Because there’s no better time to fall in love, iAdopt For Fall.

There are many animals awaiting their forever homes at Ontario SPCA Communities across the province. Our adoption campaign “iAdopt for Fall” aims to get as many animals as possible placed into their loving forever homes.

For the month of September, the adoption rate for all adult cats is only $99 at all Ontario SPCA branches.

There is still time! iAdopt for Fall ends September 30th.

Take our online Meet Your Match™ adopter survey so you’ll know before coming in to one of our shelters which type of animal you really click with. Take the survey now!

Tips for Student Volunteers

The fall is a great time to volunteer, whether it’s for community hours or for job experience.

The Ontario SPCA receives hundreds of student volunteer applications every year; therefore it’s important that your application stands out.

If you are a high school student looking for a position within the Ontario SPCA, there are things you can do!

The most important tip is to complete every section of the online application form.

Apply early! If you need hours for the coming year, don’t wait until the end of the first semester to apply.

Positions are limited and the volunteer recruitment process can take a month or more to complete.

Volunteer positions can pop up at anytime, so check the website regularly so you don’t miss out!

Friends For Life! Walk is THIS weekend!

Tails are wagging for the Ontario SPCA Friends for Life!Walk™ .

We’re now in our final stretch with only a week left to go!

This weekend, thousands of walk participants across the province, will enjoy a stroll with their families around the park in their community to help raise support for animals in need across Ontario.

We encourage everyone to come out and walk with us! Even if you don’t have a pet, come out to enjoy the day and support this worthwhile cause.

Everyone who registered is working hard to raise pledges and we appreciate your support! If you’re unable to walk, you can always support a walker. Click here to find a person or team to sponsor.

If you haven’t registered, you still can! Just go to friendsforlifewalk.ca.

We’ll see you at the walk!
