Best buddies find forever home together

When a pair of animals who are bonded come into the shelter, it can be tricky to find them homes together.

This was the case with “Kyro” and “Skyler”, two beautiful and high-energy Huskies that had been friends for a long time. They did everything as a team!

While they were adopted out as a pair, unfortunately they were returned back into our care several years later.

Staff remembered this dynamic duo and wanted to find them a permanent home so they could continue with their wonderful friendship.

Out of the blue, a couple came all the way from Ottawa to the Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre to meet Kyro and Skyler. They were very familiar with this active breed and were ready to welcome the pair into their home.

Thank you so much for helping us find these Huskies a loving forever home.

Bigger, better and more “woof-tastic” than ever!

This year’s Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre Friends For Life! Walk™ is shaping up to be our best walk yet!

Our current volunteers and local community have really stepped up to the challenge and are ready to make it a fabulous day for everyone involved.

Money raised during the walk makes an enormous impact in the lives of the animals that are in our care.

Nutritious food, warm blankets and healing hands are just some of the ways your support has helped us towards our goal of happy, healthy animals.

To our volunteer team and those who contribute throughout the year, we thank you for your incredible efforts.

We look forward to seeing everyone in action on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Register Now.

Cats think the “Cat Tower” is purr-fect

Did you know that the Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre has a wish list?

The items on the list reflect animal care supplies that are currently in high demand at the shelter.

This month, the cats at our shelter would be “paws-itively” thrilled to receive the addition of a cat tower to their habitat.

Animal behaviourists encourage cat towers as they provide increased territory, a comfortable space for timid cats, and a decrease in feline stress in shelter environments.

Help us get our cats up off the ground, and into a cat tower where they feel more comfortable!

Fall in Love - iAdopt for Fall

Fall is a great time to welcome a new addition into your family! Because there’s no better time to fall in love, iAdopt For Fall.

There are many animals awaiting their forever homes at Ontario SPCA Communities across the province. Our adoption campaign “iAdopt for Fall” aims to get as many animals as possible placed into their loving forever homes.

For the month of September, the adoption rate for all adult cats is only $99 at all Ontario SPCA branches.

There is still time! iAdopt for Fall ends September 30th.

Take our online Meet Your Match™ adopter survey so you’ll know before coming in to one of our shelters which type of animal you really click with. Take the survey now!

Tips for Student Volunteers

The fall is a great time to volunteer, whether it’s for community hours or for job experience.

The Ontario SPCA receives hundreds of student volunteer applications every year; therefore it’s important that your application stands out.

If you are a high school student looking for a position within the Ontario SPCA, there are things you can do!

The most important tip is to complete every section of the online application form.

Apply early! If you need hours for the coming year, don’t wait until the end of the first semester to apply.

Positions are limited and the volunteer recruitment process can take a month or more to complete.

Volunteer positions can pop up at anytime, so check the website regularly so you don’t miss out!
