Affectionate and fun-loving cats find forever home

Two plucky little black kittens named “Nyx” and “Vesper” were recently adopted from the Ontario SPCA Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Branch.
We were contacted by a family that was specifically looking for black cats to foster, knowing that they can often be difficult to adopt out due to their common colour.

It began as a foster situation, but it was love at first sight. Before we knew it, first Vesper and then her brother Nyx were scooped up by the same family who were excited to welcome them into their home.

“It's incredible how quickly they're growing. Already, we can't imagine our lives without them. Thank you!”

Best wishes to both cats in their new home.

Three cheers for our volunteers!

This month, we would like to spotlight Shawna, Karen and Nolan who volunteer here at the Ontario SPCA Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Branch.

As a part of the local Kinsmen Community Residence, all three of these awesome volunteers help socialize the cats and kittens in addition to helping with various household duties.

We couldn’t do what we do without the help of volunteers like Karen, Nolan and Shawna. Thanks guys for your hard work and dedication. The staff and animals here in the shelter are grateful for your efforts!

Did you know that animals come into our shelter every week needing emergency medical attention, nutritious food and a safe, dry place to rest?

These homeless pets are given veterinary care and a temporary place to call home until we can find them a forever family.

It is thanks to donors and supporters like you that we can continue to provide the best care possible. Every time you offer your support, it means the world to the animals here at the Ontario SPCA Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Branch.

Thank you to all of our donors and supporters!

Fall in Love - iAdopt for Fall

Fall is a great time to welcome a new addition into your family! Because there’s no better time to fall in love, iAdopt For Fall.

There are many animals awaiting their forever homes at Ontario SPCA Communities across the province. Our adoption campaign “iAdopt for Fall” aims to get as many animals as possible placed into their loving forever homes.

For the month of September, the adoption rate for all adult cats is only $99 at all Ontario SPCA branches.

There is still time! iAdopt for Fall ends September 30th.

Take our online Meet Your Match™ adopter survey so you’ll know before coming in to one of our shelters which type of animal you really click with. Take the survey now!

Tips for Student Volunteers

The fall is a great time to volunteer, whether it’s for community hours or for job experience.

The Ontario SPCA receives hundreds of student volunteer applications every year; therefore it’s important that your application stands out.

If you are a high school student looking for a position within the Ontario SPCA, there are things you can do!

The most important tip is to complete every section of the online application form.

Apply early! If you need hours for the coming year, don’t wait until the end of the first semester to apply.

Positions are limited and the volunteer recruitment process can take a month or more to complete.

Volunteer positions can pop up at anytime, so check the website regularly so you don’t miss out!

Friends For Life! Walk is THIS weekend!

Tails are wagging for the Ontario SPCA Friends for Life!Walk™ .

We’re now in our final stretch with only a week left to go!

This weekend, thousands of walk participants across the province, will enjoy a stroll with their families around the park in their community to help raise support for animals in need across Ontario.

We encourage everyone to come out and walk with us! Even if you don’t have a pet, come out to enjoy the day and support this worthwhile cause.

Everyone who registered is working hard to raise pledges and we appreciate your support! If you’re unable to walk, you can always support a walker. Click here to find a person or team to sponsor.

If you haven’t registered, you still can! Just go to friendsforlifewalk.ca.

We’ll see you at the walk!
