 Newshound Adopt Midland

A Place to Call Home

“Dakota” came to the Ontario SPCA Midland & District Branch as an owner surrender.  Her owners decided that they wanted to travel and couldn’t take her along on their adventures.

At eight years of age, this senior girl remained in the shelter longer then most.  Being around other cats made her anxious and she didn’t like to leave her cage so she was often overlooked by potential adopters.

One day, a young lady came in to the shleter looking to adopt a cat that may not be as adoptable as others and upon seeing Dakota, immediately fell in love.

Dakota is now living in a nice quiet home where she can retire and has become quite the loving and affectionate cat.

Give an animal a home this holiday season.  View our adoptable animals.

Volunteer Spotlight - Meet Donna

Donna started volunteering for the Ontario SPAC Midland & District Branch after fostering a number of kittens over the summer.

While she was taking care of a litter of kittens and their mother, the mother became quite ill due to complications and sadly didn’t survive.

However thanks to Donna's wonderful care, all the kittens were nursed to health and adopted into loving homes once they were ready.

Donna then volunteered her services to foster another mother and kittens and decided to adopt two of the kittens herself.

The staff are so very thankful for all of Donna’s help with the fostering program and are always looking for new volunteers to help care for the animals.

Adopted Dog Becomes YouTube Sensation

When Mike Filsinger posted a video on YouTube of his goddaughter Raven’s dog Bella, he had no idea it would become an internet sensation.

Their video “Dog Plays Waltz on Piano”, featuring Bella wearing a suit and Mike’s hands playing piano through the sleeves, has garnered over 72,000 views and lead to their appearance on Fox’s Cause for Paws: An All-Star Dog Spectacular

You Help Save Lives

The Ontario SPCA depends almost entirely on the generosity of people like you - your compassion enables us to provide urgently needed care and shelter for the thousands of innocent animals that suffer from injury, abuse or neglect each year in this province.

Every success we achieve – every life we save – is only possible with the ongoing generosity of our supporters and donors.

On behalf of all of us at the Ontario SPCA, including all our frontline staff across the province who work so hard to save lives, thank you!
