2015Welcome to NewsHound!
Winter is here! With temperatures dropping across the province, remembering to
keep all our family members, two-legged and four-legged, safe and warm during the winter season is crucial.
Check out some great resources on the Ontario SPCA Blog to help
protect your pets.
It might be cold outside, but you can keep warm in the kitchen by baking
cupcakes for National Cupcake Day™ for SPCAs and Humane Societies! Learn more at nationalcupcakeday.ca.

Fully Recovered and Seeking New Home
This past November, a stray named “North” came into our care here at the Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch. He was visibly in pain, and a medical exam revealed he had sustained a traumatic injury to one of his hind legs.
The required surgery was considerably expensive at $2,500, but through your generous donations, not only was the surgery a success but this wonderful, loving dog is now available for adoption. Come visit us to meet North, he could be the addition to your family you’ve been waiting for! View all animals available for adoption.

Josée Becomes Part of Our Team
Just like the old adage “time flies when you’re having fun”, we can’t believe that one of our newest volunteers Josée Nesdoly has only been with us since September. She quickly became a valued team member at the Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch, thanks to her willingness to learn new tasks. She has a solid grasp on daily operations and has been reliable, friendly and fun here in the office. Once things began to settle down after the holidays, Josée was here at the shelter to help archive documents and prepare for 2015.
Thank you Josée for your dedication!

Holiday Season Brings Joy
The staff at the Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch were thrilled to see so many of our wonderful animals adopted into loving homes in time for the holidays.
Although some of our shelter animals remained in our care, we are comforted to know that thanks to the generosity and kindness of our community, these animals are warm, dry, fed and cared for while they wait for their storybook ending.
Your contributions have brought our shelter animals health and hope for 2015.
THANK YOU!

iAdopt for the Holidays a Big Success
iAdopt for the Holidays ran from November 1st to December 31st,
2014 across the country with the goal of getting as many animals adopted into loving new homes as possible
over the holiday season.

itself made up 1,396 of those adoptions!
We want to
thank everyone that took part in the campaign. You helped to change the lives of thousands of animals in

Winter Care for Paws
Winter is harsh!
Harsh on us humans, and harsh on our pets as well. They might have a beautiful fur coat to help protect
them from some of that cold air, but like us, our furry friends require added care for their skin and paws.
Ice-melting chemicals can also be harmful if left on the skin or ingested.
Read our blog post Winter Care For Your Dog’s Paws and Skin for great tips on how you
can keep your pet safe and in tip top shape all winter long.
