Welcome to NewsHound!

Winter is here!  With temperatures dropping across the province, remembering to keep all our family members, two-legged and four-legged, safe and warm during the winter season is crucial.  Check out some great resources on the Ontario SPCA Blog to help protect your pets.

 Lucky

"Lucky" in Love

It was unfortunate circumstances that brought “Lucky” into our care at the Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre back in August of 2014. Sadly, Lucky’s owners were unable to keep her and felt the best decision was to surrender her and give her a second chance at happiness.

The staff instantly fell in love with Lucky’s sweet personality and thought she would find a new home in no time. Unfortunately it took Lucky quite some time to find a forever home, but thanks to the iAdopt for the Holidays program, a loving family came in on December 23rd and fell in love with her. We are so happy that Lucky was able to be home for the holidays!

Fall in love all over again. Meet one of our adoptable animals.

 Thank you Volunteers

Volunteers to the Rescue

The Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre would like to thank all of the volunteers who came in over the holidays to help out. This is a busy time of year for the shelter and the animals need just as much love and care as they would at any other time of the year.

Having the extra help from our incredible volunteers during the holidays means so much to the staff and the animals.  We are fortunate to be part of such a wonderful community!

Thanks again to all of our volunteers for showing us how much you care and for taking time out of your busy schedules to help the  animals in need.

Volunteers are always in need throughout the year. View current volunteer opportunities to see if you can help.

 iAdopt for the Holidays

iAdopt for the Holidays a Big Success

iAdopt for the Holidays ran from November 1st to December 31st, 2014 across the country with the goal of getting as many animals adopted into loving new homes as possible over the holiday season.

With 42 participating partners working together, a total of 3,774 animals were adopted over the campaign period. The Ontario SPCA itself made up 1,396 of those adoptions!

We want to thank everyone that took part in the campaign. You helped to change the lives of thousands of animals in need.

Winter Care for Paws

Winter is harsh!   Harsh on us humans, and harsh on our pets as well.  They might have a beautiful fur coat to help protect them from some of that cold air, but like us, our furry friends require added care for their skin and paws. Ice-melting chemicals can also be harmful if left on the skin or ingested.

Read our blog post Winter Care For Your Dog’s Paws and Skin for great tips on how you can keep your pet safe and in tip top shape all winter long.
