A Little "Faith"

“Faith” arrived at the Ontario SPCA Orillia Branch as a stray. This sweet girl was in very poor condition with 70% of her body missing fur, and she was very thin and lethargic. After her visit to the veterinarian, Faith was treated for her Demodex Mange, an auto-immune disease that if treated immediately is controllable, but when left as in Faith’s situation, becomes much more difficult to treat.

Faith had been adopted but due to the side affects from her healing, she needed to return to the shelter until she is fully recovered. Faith has come a long way and is responding well to her treatment. We are hoping  to finalize her adoption by the end of February.

Keep an eye on our website as well as our Facebook page for updates!

Thank You Pet Valu

The Ontario SPCA Orillia Branch is fortunate to have such a great relationship with our local Pet Valu stores! The Monarch and Gravenhurst Pet Valu locations serve as satellite adoption centres which allow the animals to be seen by more potential adopters and increases their chances of finding their perfect match!

If you are looking for a new feline companion, please drop by the Monarch Pet Valu in Orillia or the Gravenhurst Pet Valu to see all the cats waiting for a home!

The Monarch Pet Valu along with the Fittons West location are also important supporters of our Friends for Life! Walk™
and supply canine walk participants with the most amazing goodie bags. These bags are filled with wonderful items from food to toys to treats and much more...every dog leaves with their tail wagging!

Thank you to our local Pet Valu locations for your continued support.

Keep Your Dog Active This Winter

While winter dog walking can sometimes be a challenge, it’s important to meet your dog’s exercise needs all year round. Not only will this keep your dog physically active during the winter months, it’ll also provide much needed mental stimulation for your dog.

The cold weather might mean shorter walks, but there are still ways to get that physical activity in.  Read the Ontario SPCA’s blog post Tips for a Safe Dog Walk This Winter for useful information.

Dogs love walks no matter what the season brings.  Just remember, if it’s too cold for you outside …it’s too cold for your pets.

Sharing the Love This Winter

Ontario SPCA staff would like to thank all of our volunteers for their support over the winter!  Cold weather hasn't stopped them.

•  Volunteers braved the cold temperatures and provided over 300 dog walks last month to ensure all the animals were getting the exercise they needed.

•  Volunteers are also set to build 20 feral cat shelters to provide warmth for homeless cats in various communities.

•  Our transportation volunteers even tackled the icy roads to safely transport our animals to various medical appointments.

Volunteers are vital to our organization and without your warm hearts we couldn’t care for all those cold noses.  If you would like to get involved and join our volunteer team, visit ontariospca.ca and complete our online application form.
