 Winston Before & After

“Winston’s” Adoption Makeover!

What a huge difference love can make! “Winston” came to the Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Branch as a stray who was under weight, suffering from frostbite and in need of attention and affection. Our dog walking volunteer Amanda Collins stepped up to the challenge!

After walking Winston, Amanda felt a deep bond with him and knew she was meant to change his life! Amanda adopted her “Mr. Man” to add to her loving home and Winston has had an incredible adoption make over both physically and emotionally. He is now thriving in his new home.

You can make a difference for pets like Winston.  Click here to view adoptable animals.

Volunteer Spotlight – Meet Emily

Emily Tulloch is one of our weekend dog walking volunteers who is a great ball of happiness to be around! It’s no wonder the dogs love her so much!

Having moved to the area recently, volunteering at the Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Branch was at the top of Emily’s priority list! Emily is passionate, outgoing and always happy to help with the needs of the shelter. She was our first volunteer to submit a “Crazy about Cupcakes” photo to raise interest in our upcoming National Cupcake Day™ and many volunteers have started to follow her lead!

You can submit a photo too just like Emily by emailing rweikman@ospca.on.ca.

Are you craving CUPCAKES?

We know you are! How about eight PUPCAKES! They are as sweet, fluffy and wonderful as they sound.

They Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Branch recently fostered eight puppies affectionately known as our “pupcakes” in honour of National Cupcake Day™  and we’re happy to say they have all been adopted by loving families!

The pupcakes are still doing their part and trying to raise donations to help future puppies in need just like them. They’ve started an online bakery where you can read about their story and donate to change the lives of other animals in need.

Take a look here and then stop by the shelter for your complimentary cupcake!

Keep Your Dog Active This Winter

While winter dog walking can sometimes be a challenge, it’s important to meet your dog’s exercise needs all year round. Not only will this keep your dog physically active during the winter months, it’ll also provide much needed mental stimulation for your dog.

The cold weather might mean shorter walks, but there are still ways to get that physical activity in.  Read the Ontario SPCA’s blog post Tips for a Safe Dog Walk This Winter for useful information.

Dogs love walks no matter what the season brings.  Just remember, if it’s too cold for you outside …it’s too cold for your pets.

Sharing the Love This Winter

Ontario SPCA staff would like to thank all of our volunteers for their support over the winter!  Cold weather hasn't stopped them.

•  Volunteers braved the cold temperatures and provided over 300 dog walks last month to ensure all the animals were getting the exercise they needed.

•  Volunteers are also set to build 20 feral cat shelters to provide warmth for homeless cats in various communities.

•  Our transportation volunteers even tackled the icy roads to safely transport our animals to various medical appointments.

Volunteers are vital to our organization and without your warm hearts we couldn’t care for all those cold noses.  If you would like to get involved and join our volunteer team, visit ontariospca.ca and complete our online application form.
