“Tedford” Finds His Forever Home
Mylaine and Sebastien had been keeping their eye on the Meet your Match® website for a small dog. When they saw “Tedford”, a sweet Terrier mix had arrived at the Ontario SPCA Leeds & Grenville Branch, they immediately made their way to the shelter with a list of questions and big smiles.
"He really looks like my mom's dog," said Sebastien. Both he and Mylaine liked Tedford's gentle nature and his terrier good looks. It didn’t take long for the couple to know he was the one.
Tedford now has a forever home with this young couple who plan on giving him the opportunity to learn his commands in French. Merci Mylaine and Sebastien for adopting from the Ontario SPCA Leeds & Grenville Branch!

Volunteer Spotlight – Meet Katie
Snow, sleet and cold! Regardless of the weather, the dogs in our care still need their daily walks. The Ontario SPCA Leeds & Grenville is thankful for the dedicated dog walkers. Katie, one of our loyal volunteers, has walked in some of the worse winter weather to ensure the dogs are getting their daily exercise. She shows up bundled up every week to take them out for some fresh air even if it’s only for a few minutes at a time.
Katie can always be counted on. She shows up first thing in the morning, with a smile on her face, ready to go!
Thank you Katie for your dedication to the animals. You are a wonderful addition to the team!

A Birthday Party for the Animals
The Ontario SPCA Leeds & Grenville Branch is so very thankful for the support we receive from the community. Donations come in from many different sources and we are always so grateful. It especially warms our hearts when young children such as Fiona, come in bearing presents for the animals. Fiona recently came into the shelter to visit the animals and brought with her some great donations. She decided that for her birthday, she didn’t need presents, but rather wanted to help the animals instead. So she requested her party guests bring donations for the animals rather than giving her gifts.Thank you Fiona for your thoughtful gesture! The animals love their new toys and treats! Keep Your Dog Active This Winter
While winter dog walking can sometimes be a challenge, it’s important to meet your dog’s exercise needs all year round. Not only will this keep your dog physically active during the winter months, it’ll also provide much needed mental stimulation for your dog. The cold weather might mean shorter walks, but there are still ways to get that physical activity in. Read the Ontario SPCA’s blog post Tips for a Safe Dog Walk This Winter for useful information.
Dogs love walks no matter what the season brings. Just remember, if it’s too cold for you outside …it’s too cold for your pets.

Sharing the Love This Winter
Ontario SPCA staff would like to thank all of our volunteers for their support over the winter! Cold weather hasn't stopped them.
• Volunteers braved the cold temperatures and provided over 300 dog walks last month to ensure all the animals were getting the exercise they needed.
• Volunteers are also set to build 20 feral cat shelters to provide warmth for homeless cats in various communities.
• Our transportation volunteers even tackled the icy roads to safely transport our animals to various medical appointments. Volunteers are vital to our organization and without your warm hearts we couldn’t care for all those cold noses. If you would like to get involved and join our volunteer team, visit ontariospca.ca and complete our online application form.
