“Bene” Needs a Home
Bashful “Bene” has been living at the Ontario SPCA Huron County Branch since May. Bene is labelled as a secret admirer in our Meet Your Match program, which helps match an animal to your lifestyle and preferences.
Shy at first, give Bene a little time, and he'll shower you with purrs, head-butts and plenty of lap time where he loves his belly rubbed! Bene is best suited in a quiet home where he can find spots up high to perch, and where treats are a plenty!
You can now adopt Bene for only $75! (neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treatment, microchipped, and six weeks of pet insurance)
For more information on Bene please contact the shelter at 519-440-0250 or you can view other adoptable animals here.

Volunteer Spotlight – Meet Allan
Ask any of the felines and they will let you know that Allan Day is an important part of our volunteer team - he has the cat nip! As one of our cat enrichment volunteers, Allan comes in several times each week to spend time cuddling the cats. Allan grows his own cat nip and shares it with our cats who always love when he visits.
Not only does Allan help us with the cats in the shelter, he also acts as an ambassador whenever he is out and about in the community. Allan is always the first to share stories about our animals and recruit participants for fundraising events! Allan has even adopted a cat from us, “Leo”!
Allan is truly committed to the animals in our community and is an asset to have on the team. Thank you Allan for all that you do!

Keep Your Dog Active This Winter
While winter dog walking can sometimes be a challenge, it’s important to meet your dog’s exercise needs all year round. Not only will this keep your dog physically active during the winter months, it’ll also provide much needed mental stimulation for your dog. The cold weather might mean shorter walks, but there are still ways to get that physical activity in. Read the Ontario SPCA’s blog post Tips for a Safe Dog Walk This Winter for useful information.
Dogs love walks no matter what the season brings. Just remember, if it’s too cold for you outside …it’s too cold for your pets.

Sharing the Love This Winter
Ontario SPCA staff would like to thank all of our volunteers for their support over the winter! Cold weather hasn't stopped them.
• Volunteers braved the cold temperatures and provided over 300 dog walks last month to ensure all the animals were getting the exercise they needed.
• Volunteers are also set to build 20 feral cat shelters to provide warmth for homeless cats in various communities.
• Our transportation volunteers even tackled the icy roads to safely transport our animals to various medical appointments. Volunteers are vital to our organization and without your warm hearts we couldn’t care for all those cold noses. If you would like to get involved and join our volunteer team, visit ontariospca.ca and complete our online application form.
