Siblings Stay Together

"
Ginger Man” and “Reese” were eight-year-old sibling cats surrendered to the Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre back in December because their owners could no longer take care of them.  They were placed for adoption at our satellite adoption centre at PetSmart® to increase their chance at being adopted together.

These two friendly felines caught the attention of many people.  Thanks to their sweet disposition, it didn’t take long for them to get adopted into a loving home.  Ginger Man and Reese love their new home and especially love to curl up in their cat beds beside the warm fireplace.

Give an animal a warm place to curl up.  View our adoptable animals.

Cold Weather, Warm Hearts

The Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre depends on the warmth and generosity of our volunteers.  We would like to thank everyone who dedicates their time to help the animals in need.

A special “hats off” goes out to all our volunteers who have participated in our evening dog walking program that was launched almost three years ago.  Despite the cold weather conditions, these wonderful volunteers brave the seasonal conditions to ensure all the animals get the exercise and fresh air they need to stay healthy.  Thank you for your continued support!

Check out the current volunteer opportunities to see how you might be able to help.

A Grand Opening Celebration

On January 23rd, 2015, the Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre celebrated our grand opening in our new location inside Collège Boréal.   The event was well attended and guests were treated to tours of both the new adoption centre and the Vet Tech program’s veterinary wing.

The partnership between Collège Boréal and the Ontario SPCA is the first of its kind in Ontario.   This first semester working with the students has been a great success, with both students and animals benefiting greatly from this collaboration.Thank you to everyone involved in making this great new partnership come to life!

We invite you to check out the new Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre located at 21 LaSalle Boulevard. Just follow the signs to the West side of the building.

Keep Your Dog Active This Winter

While winter dog walking can sometimes be a challenge, it’s important to meet your dog’s exercise needs all year round. Not only will this keep your dog physically active during the winter months, it’ll also provide much needed mental stimulation for your dog.

The cold weather might mean shorter walks, but there are still ways to get that physical activity in.  Read the Ontario SPCA’s blog post Tips for a Safe Dog Walk This Winter for useful information.

Dogs love walks no matter what the season brings.  Just remember, if it’s too cold for you outside …it’s too cold for your pets.

Sharing the Love This Winter

Ontario SPCA staff would like to thank all of our volunteers for their support over the winter!  Cold weather hasn't stopped them.

•  Volunteers braved the cold temperatures and provided over 300 dog walks last month to ensure all the animals were getting the exercise they needed.

•  Volunteers are also set to build 20 feral cat shelters to provide warmth for homeless cats in various communities.

•  Our transportation volunteers even tackled the icy roads to safely transport our animals to various medical appointments.

Volunteers are vital to our organization and without your warm hearts we couldn’t care for all those cold noses.  If you would like to get involved and join our volunteer team, visit ontariospca.ca and complete our online application form.
