Fix Your Pet

It's officially spring this week and pets everywhere will finally be able to enjoy more time outdoors.  However, more pets outside can lead to more opportunities for pet reproduction, and in turn, litters of unwanted kittens and puppies.

Pet overpopulation is already at crisis levels in Ontario!  The Ontario SPCA urges you to spay or neuter your pet and beat the spring heat. Learn more at fixyourpet.ca.

Update on “Lola”

After the recent loss of a pet, Aida and her family were looking for a new family member to love and they adopted “Lola” from the Ontario SPCA Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Branch back in February. Lola’s family has reported that she is settling nicely. Lola has been exceptionally obedient and yet curious about her new home, and is doing wonderfully.

“I know it seems like we saved Lola but she saved us really. She's warmed up our hearts and our home with her presence,” says Aida.

We are so happy for Lola and her new family!

Volunteer Spotlight: Nathalie

Our energetic volunteer of the month Natalie can handle tasks both big and small! Not only does Natalie help us with fundraising events, but she also takes care of the “Pet of the Week” for the Glengarry News, manages our social media and pet photography and has even adopted unique pets from our shelter like “Lenny” the Mallard and “Ophelia” the Pot-bellied pig!

We are so thankful for Natalie’s hard work, along with all of our volunteers at the Ontario SPCA Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Branch. Thank you Natalie for your dedication!

Keagan Shows his Support

We were so touched by the efforts of a local eight-year-old named Keagan. For his birthday party this year, he requested pet toys, food and bedding instead of birthday gifts.

Keagan received over $130 worth of animal care supplies, as well as a dog basket full of donated items for our shelter.

Thank you so much Keagan for your generous contributions from all of us here at the Ontario SPCA Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Branch.

 Fix Your Pet

March is Fix Your Pet Month!

Spaying and neutering your pet is such an important measure to help address pet overpopulation that the Ontario SPCA has dedicated the entire month of March to Fix Your Pet

Tens of thousands of dogs and cats end up homeless on the street or orphaned every year. Having your pet spayed or neutered will directly address this problem.  The Ontario SPCA encourages the public to fix their pets and help reduce the number of unwanted pets.

Is your pet already spayed or neutered? Consider Spaying it Forward by donating the average price of a spay/neuter procedure to help an animal in need.

Fixyourpet.ca, it's the kindest thing you can do.

ChangeTheWorld

ChangeTheWorld: Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge!

This spring, the Ontario SPCA will be promoting our No Hot Pets campaign with the help of students across the province thanks to a partnership with ChangeTheWorld: Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge. This challenge is a six-week campaign with one goal: get high school students to volunteer in their community.

Youth will be asking the public to pledge to not leave their pets in cars. This important pet safety message will allow students to gain their community hours, learn about pet safety and help save lives!

If you would like to join the youth volunteer team in your area, please go to your local Ontario SPCA website, click on the “Get Involved” tab and sign up for our Operation No Hot Pets event.
