Fix Your Pet

It's officially spring this week and pets everywhere will finally be able to enjoy more time outdoors.  However, more pets outside can lead to more opportunities for pet reproduction, and in turn, litters of unwanted kittens and puppies.

Pet overpopulation is already at crisis levels in Ontario!  The Ontario SPCA urges you to spay or neuter your pet and beat the spring heat. Learn more at fixyourpet.ca.

 Squishy

Squishy’s” Journey

The journey of “Squishy”, an adorable Border Collie, began when her family decided to move but knew they could not take an energetic pet like her. With her soft brown eyes and affectionate personality, the staff at the Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre thought she would be easily adoptable.

We were surprised when she was returned to our shelter shortly after being adopted because she just wasn’t the right fit for the family. Thankfully, she found her perfect match with a new fun-loving family who reports that she is doing great and they love her very much. Congratulations to Squishy in her new home!

Olaf

"Olaf" Needs Your Help!

"Olaf", a 12-week-old Husky pup, came into the care of the Investigations department after being abandoned by his owner at a vet clinic with a broken leg. After being evaluated by a veterinarian, the only chance for Olaf was to have an immediate surgery to try and repair the damage. He required a steel rod and screws to be inserted into the bone.

Olaf is in tremendous pain and we are looking for your help to give Olaf that fighting chance at recovery and a new life. The cost of his surgery and care in the hospital has currently exceeded $5000.00 and will continue to increase with weeks of rehabilitation.

Please donate now to help cover our Rescue & Relief efforts. With your help, Olaf will have a full recovery and will be ready to be adopted into a forever loving home.

Visit our Facebook page for more updates on Olaf as we track his recovery!

 Fix Your Pet

March is Fix Your Pet Month!

Spaying and neutering your pet is such an important measure to help address pet overpopulation that the Ontario SPCA has dedicated the entire month of March to Fix Your Pet

Tens of thousands of dogs and cats end up homeless on the street or orphaned every year. Having your pet spayed or neutered will directly address this problem.  The Ontario SPCA encourages the public to fix their pets and help reduce the number of unwanted pets.

Is your pet already spayed or neutered? Consider Spaying it Forward by donating the average price of a spay/neuter procedure to help an animal in need.

Fixyourpet.ca, it's the kindest thing you can do.

ChangeTheWorld

ChangeTheWorld: Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge!

This spring, the Ontario SPCA will be promoting our No Hot Pets campaign with the help of students across the province thanks to a partnership with ChangeTheWorld: Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge. This challenge is a six-week campaign with one goal: get high school students to volunteer in their community.

Youth will be asking the public to pledge to not leave their pets in cars. This important pet safety message will allow students to gain their community hours, learn about pet safety and help save lives!

If you would like to join the youth volunteer team in your area, please go to your local Ontario SPCA website, click on the “Get Involved” tab and sign up for our Operation No Hot Pets event.
