Portia Makes a Full Recovery This past January, “Portia” was surrendered into the care of the Ontario SPCA, and was transferred to the Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre. She had an eyelid protrusion known as “cherry eye”, and required veterinary intervention to correct it. Her operation was successful and she recovered quickly.
It wasn’t long before Portia caught the eye of a visitor to our Branch, and has settled wonderfully into her new home!

Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Rita
We are pleased to highlight the dedication of Rita Simon, a volunteer here at the Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre. She has been a part of our team for just over a year after finding a volunteer opportunity on our website that appealed to her.
Rita tells us that what she loves most about volunteering with us is interacting with the people and the animals. “I really find it relaxing to work with the animals, I feel like I make a difference in their lives,” she says. “What I like best is that pets are forever grateful, and they always make me laugh!”
We appreciate Rita’s hard work, and for being such a valued volunteer here at the shelter.

Celebrate and Fundraise with us!
The Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre is gearing up for the 15th Annual Furry Friends Feast! We have a new partnership this year with Collège Boréal, who will be hosting our event at their popular restaurant, Au pied du rocher.
This year’s theme pays homage to rock ‘n roll with a “Happy Days” party, complete with music from the 50’s and 60’s. We will have a dinner, silent auction, and prizes for the best dressed 50’s and 60’s attire. Please join us for a rockin’ good time, and thank you for supporting the animals at our shelter!
