"Maggie” Shines in her New Home
Get ready to meet “Maggie”! Marlene adopted her from the Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Branch here in Petawawa after doing a work placement with our Branch. "I just decided that she needed a forever home with my merry little band of cats, ‘Ginger’ and ‘Zena’, plus new adoptee ‘Olive’!”
Maggie is really enjoying her forever home and she is so happy to go out for walks that she yips and barks! We are moving out east towards our retirement home. She runs hard, yips hard, explores hard, and sleeps hard and I love her spirit!” says Marlene. We are so happy that she has found her forever home!

Debra and Janine are an Unusual Team
A very well-deserved volunteer spotlight goes to our Kibble & Bids crew members Debra Tower and Janine Toth. Although they’ve never actually met, and they may not know what a great team they are, Debra and Janine work together as an incredible duo!
They make our weekly Kibble and Bids Facebook Auction run smoothly and bring in much-needed donations for our shelter. Between both volunteers, they cover many other volunteering tasks such as office administration, dog walking, grooming and special events for the Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Branch! Thanks to you both for all of your hard work.

Got a Pet? Get a Vet!™SPCAs and Humane Societies across Canada encourage pet owners that if you've 'Got a Pet? Get a Vet!™'
It’s important to establish a relationship with a veterinarian when you get a pet. Just one veterinary check-up a year will help protect against a variety of potentially life-threatening diseases, detect health problems sooner, and avoid unexpected costs.
Veterinarians provide many services such as:
• Early Disease Detection
• Regular Vaccinations
• Flea, Tick and Parasite Prevention
• Prevention of Dental Disease
• Nutritional Counselling
• Pet Identification
• And so much more! Don’t wait until something goes wrong to take your pet in for a check-up. Schedule a visit with your local veterinarian to ensure a longer, healthier life for your pet(s).

No Hot Pets is Back!
Temperatures have already broken records in some areas of Ontario and calls are coming in to report pets being left in vehicles.
Tuesday, May 19th marks the official launch of the No Hot Pets campaign.
The Ontario SPCA wants to remind pet owners of the dangers of leaving pets unattended in a vehicle during the hot summer months.
Parked cars can quickly reach deadly temperatures, even on relatively mild days with the car parked in the shade and the windows slightly open.
Don’t forget your pet and pledge to NOT leave your pet in a vehicle this summer.
Visit nohotpets.ca and help spread the word about the dangers of leaving pets in vehicles.
