Finding "Arizona" a Home
It was quite a sad sight when "Arizona", a stray Labrador cross, was brought into the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Branch. She had painful sores due to a skin condition, and a mysterious lump on her back that was causing her even more distress. After a veterinary exam, Arizona was given antibiotics and pain management medication to keep her comfortable, and later the lump was surgically removed. When we mentioned her to longtime supporter and adopter Frances, she and her husband Christopher dropped what they were doing and came from their home in the city directly to the shelter. It was a match! Arizona now has a wonderful home and is fully recovered.

The Many "Hats" of Carol
It takes a substantial amount of skill to multitask and swap from one task to another with the ease of Carol! Carol is part of our Bottle Collection team, which is one of the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Branch's largest fundraisers.
Early every Wednesday morning, along with the other volunteers on the team, Carol sorts, counts and tracks the empties ready for the Beer Store to pick. It’s always great to see Carol arrive ready to jump in and help with what ever is happening at that particular moment. She is a great help to all of us and the staff and other volunteers all appreciate Carol’s contributions towards helping the animals in our care. Thank you Carol

Paws & Claws is a Success Thanks to You
This month we want to profile all of the members of our community who donate saleable goods to Paws & Claws, our thrift stores in Orangeville and Shelburne. Proceeds from the stores help the animals in the care of the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Branch.
It is very rewarding to the branch and the volunteers at the stores that our community is so generous in the donations of items given to help the animals. Thank you to all our thrift store donors, your donations help make our stores amazingly successful, for the animals.

Got a Pet? Get a Vet!™SPCAs and Humane Societies across Canada encourage pet owners that if you've 'Got a Pet? Get a Vet!™'
It’s important to establish a relationship with a veterinarian when you get a pet. Just one veterinary check-up a year will help protect against a variety of potentially life-threatening diseases, detect health problems sooner, and avoid unexpected costs.
Veterinarians provide many services such as:
• Early Disease Detection
• Regular Vaccinations
• Flea, Tick and Parasite Prevention
• Prevention of Dental Disease
• Nutritional Counselling
• Pet Identification
• And so much more! Don’t wait until something goes wrong to take your pet in for a check-up. Schedule a visit with your local veterinarian to ensure a longer, healthier life for your pet(s).
Visit gotapetgetavet.ca for a list of veterinarians in your area.

No Hot Pets is Back!
Temperatures have already broken records in some areas of Ontario and calls are coming in to report pets being left in vehicles.
Tuesday, May 19th marks the official launch of the No Hot Pets campaign.
The Ontario SPCA wants to remind pet owners of the dangers of leaving pets unattended in a vehicle during the hot summer months.
Parked cars can quickly reach deadly temperatures, even on relatively mild days with the car parked in the shade and the windows slightly open.
Don’t forget your pet and pledge to NOT leave your pet in a vehicle this summer.
Visit nohotpets.ca and help spread the word about the dangers of leaving pets in vehicles.
