 Turbo

“Turbo” Finds a New Best Buddy
We were excited when “Turbo”, a young Husky, was adopted from the Ontario SPCA Midland and District Branch about a year ago.  We hoped he would go to a home that understood his need for speed!

Amanda Diver already owned another male Husky named “Max” and was excited to add another one to her pet family. At first, Turbo and Max had trouble adjusting to one another, and Amanda was worried she would have to return Turbo. She was determined to make things work, and after a year together they are the best of friends and Turbo is doing great in his home!

 Amber

Amber is our Weekend Warrior

It is a great feeling to know that we can depend on Amber Scott to help out here at the Ontario SPCA Midland & District Branch on the weekends. She has been a trustworthy part of our weekend team for about a year, and always pitches in to lend a hand. She doesn’t mind the task, whether it be cleaning cat rooms or tidying up in the back as needed.

Thank you Amber for volunteering your time and making our shelter sparkle and shine!

 Becky's legacy

Becky’s Legacy of Love

In a beautiful act of love and remembrance, Tara and Roger Cloutier have a new tradition to continue helping animals the way their extraordinary daughter Becky would have wanted. Becky’s love for animals shone brightly, and she selflessly and enthusiastically collected donations for the Ontario SPCA Midland &District Branch  instead of receiving birthday or Christmas gifts.

After Becky tragically passed away, they decided to honour that love by selecting and paying the fee for an adoptable cat or kitten she would have liked. When that pet is selected for adoption, Becky’s legacy of compassion is paid forward. Thank you to the Cloutier family. Becky will never be forgotten.

Got a Pet? Get a Vet!™

SPCAs and Humane Societies across Canada encourage pet owners that if you've 'Got a Pet? Get a Vet!™'

It’s important to establish a relationship with a veterinarian when you get a pet. Just one veterinary check-up a year will help protect against a variety of potentially life-threatening diseases, detect health problems sooner, and avoid unexpected costs.
Veterinarians provide many services such as:

•  Early Disease Detection
•  Regular Vaccinations
•  Flea, Tick and Parasite Prevention
•  Prevention of Dental Disease
•  Nutritional Counselling
•  Pet Identification
•  And so much more!

Don’t wait until something goes wrong to take your pet in for a check-up. Schedule a visit with your local veterinarian to ensure a longer, healthier life for your pet(s).

Visit gotapetgetavet.ca for a list of veterinarians in your area.

No Hot Pets

No Hot Pets is Back!

Temperatures have already broken records in some areas of Ontario and calls are coming in to report pets being left in vehicles.

Tuesday, May 19th marks the official launch of the No Hot Pets campaign.

The Ontario SPCA wants to remind pet owners of the dangers of leaving pets unattended in a vehicle during the hot summer months.

Parked cars can quickly reach deadly temperatures, even on relatively mild days with the car parked in the shade and the windows slightly open.

Don’t forget your pet and pledge to NOT leave your pet in a vehicle this summer.

Visit nohotpets.ca and help spread the word about the dangers of leaving pets in vehicles.
