Frostbitten “Cricket” Finds Warmth

On a chilly day this past April, an injured and emaciated stray we named “Cricket” was dropped off here at the Ontario SPCA Lennox & Addington Branch. After the harsh winter, a veterinary exam determined the tip her tail had been frostbitten and required surgery.

As she began to mend, Cricket began to bond with staff and showed her affectionate personality. It didn’t take long for someone to notice her and decide they wanted to give her a forever home. We are so happy for Cricket and her new family.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Like they say, it takes a village! We want to acknowledge and thank our volunteers who have donated their time and skills to help us run the many fundraisers and events that the Ontario SPCA Lennox & Addington Branch depends on.

Whether it’s baking cupcakes and helping out on National Cupcake Day™, lending a green thumb during our annual Plant Sale or supporting our recent Art Battle, our awesome volunteers have jumped in to help! The success of these events has been possible because of your support. Thank you all!

Art Battle Helps “Posey”

We are always pleased to share fundraising success stories with our supporters! In April, a young Labrador mix in our care named “Posey” began to struggle with her front legs, and it was determined medical intervention was required.

We appealed to the support of volunteers and guests of our Art Battle fundraiser for the Ontario SPCA Lennox & Addington Branch and were able to raise the funds to cover the medical attention that she needed.

Thank you to everyone who helped Posey! Our staff are very appreciative of your contribution!

Got a Pet? Get a Vet!™

SPCAs and Humane Societies across Canada encourage pet owners that if you've 'Got a Pet? Get a Vet!™'

It’s important to establish a relationship with a veterinarian when you get a pet. Just one veterinary check-up a year will help protect against a variety of potentially life-threatening diseases, detect health problems sooner, and avoid unexpected costs.
Veterinarians provide many services such as:

•  Early Disease Detection
•  Regular Vaccinations
•  Flea, Tick and Parasite Prevention
•  Prevention of Dental Disease
•  Nutritional Counselling
•  Pet Identification
•  And so much more!

Don’t wait until something goes wrong to take your pet in for a check-up. Schedule a visit with your local veterinarian to ensure a longer, healthier life for your pet(s).

Visit gotapetgetavet.ca for a list of veterinarians in your area.

No Hot Pets

No Hot Pets is Back!

Temperatures have already broken records in some areas of Ontario and calls are coming in to report pets being left in vehicles.

Tuesday, May 19th marks the official launch of the No Hot Pets campaign.

The Ontario SPCA wants to remind pet owners of the dangers of leaving pets unattended in a vehicle during the hot summer months.

Parked cars can quickly reach deadly temperatures, even on relatively mild days with the car parked in the shade and the windows slightly open.

Don’t forget your pet and pledge to NOT leave your pet in a vehicle this summer.

Visit nohotpets.ca and help spread the word about the dangers of leaving pets in vehicles.
