An Instant Bond for "Ruby"
It was during a wellness clinic where dedicated volunteer, Christina Russell, fell in love with sweet "Ruby". Christina was helping take the animals through the vet stations, and when Ruby came along, they bonded instantly.
Ruby was hungry, timid and covered in over 100 ticks. A little love and care went a long way, and it didn't take long for Ruby to wag her tail and know she had a forever friend in Christina.
Christina adopted her on site and got to take her home at the end of the clinic. Ruby and her Great Dane brother Rupert are inseparable. She is spoiled rotten by her new family and the Russell's can't imagine their lives without Ruby now. She is family!
There are many sweet animals looking for their forever home. Take the Meet your Match® survey and find your perfect match.

Meet “Vegas” our Friends for Life! Walk™ Spokes Animal
“Vegas” found her way to the Ontario SPCA Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Branch after being rescued by someone who witnessed her being tossed from a moving vehicle and struck by a cube van.
Vegas’ rescuer brought her straight to the shelter for help. This poor Beagle needed a leg amputation but the outcome looked good. When the rescuer recounted this horrible story to her employers at the family business Euro Tile & Stone, they immediately offered to adopt the dog. They took her in to recover as soon as her treatments were over, and named her “Vegas” because she was lucky to get a second chance at life.
Join the Friends for Life! Walk™ in Cornwall on September 19th, 2015 and help give animals like Vegas a second chance or donate to Vegas’ personal fund raising page.

It’s summer time!!! Bring on the beach days and outdoor fun.
It’s important to stay cool during these hot days ahead. While humans can take necessary precautions to avoid heatstroke, your pets rely on you to keep them cool and safe.
There are a number of things you can do to keep your pet from overheating. Read our latest blog post Keeping your Pet Cool this Summer for great tips on keeping your pets safe.
And remember to visit nohotpets.ca, take the pledge NOT to leave your pets unattended in hot vehicles and share the message with family and friends.
We can all do our part in keeping pets safe this summer. Call 310-SPCA if you suspect an animal in danger.

Newshound is Getting
a Make-Over
It’s time to take Newshound to the next level and we need your help! In order to make the Ontario SPCA newsletter the “must read” of all newsletters, we need your feedback.
Next month, rather than sending our usual edition of Newshound, we will be sending you a short survey to better understand what it is you want to see in the Ontario SPCA newsletter.
So if you have any suggestions, please make note of them and check your inbox mid August with a link to provide us with feedback. Your input is important to us!
We thank you for your loyal readership and from all the animals at the Ontario SPCA, we wish you a happy and safe summer.
